Grooming gang blog in the star today.

I'm not even going to provide a link but let's not let facts & home office evidence get in the way of some good ol' community demonising.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

This is how it starts. One minute people are electing these "common sense, just telling it like it is" candidates and before you know it extremist viewpoints are normalised and you're electing evil Frau Farbissinas like Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Be fair, he still probably can't locate Ipswich on a map, let alone Telford.

If it's not an issue, what has he done a blog on it?

Rhetorical question, obviously.

Very disappointing that the local paper runs his divisive trash with no rebuttal.

This is now 2wks running he's been able to spread his manure unanswered.

This has been brought up in a decent point on the twitter feed. Surely, someone at The Star can realise that this is just hate speak?

Is he linking it to Starmer as DPP? Some of the more challenged right-wingers have been pushing that over the past year.

So I can see the whole Grooming Gang thing being a perfect storm of identity, islamophobia, anti-woke and with just enough deranged stickability to pin the blame on “the left”, Labour and Starmer himself.

As you say it’s not backed up by the facts or even the Home Office report. But when has that ever mattered in politics and poisoning the debate?

It seems to be a far cry from the paper my old grandad used to get delivered every day.

Awful website, horrific offensive comments under every 'article', obtrusive adverts cluttering every page, click bait and outrage porn where articles should be. Rag doesn't even cover it these days.

Because it's useful in his 'Proper Brits vs the others' culture war nonsense. All he wants to do is stoke divisions, and in this case incredibly where no such divisions exist.

No Starmer link from what I saw.

I suspect that this will also be on the Leave EU twitter feed later today for continued stoking.

Much like the local papers with the club, they probably don't want to rock the boat and for him to not give them access. Which is a shockingly low bar for any publication.

Yeah, I just read it. And they probably will use the unofficial twitterers to push the more ludicrous and demonising aspects.

Probably worth making the point directly to Brad Jones. It's just complete unsubstantiated bile week in, week out that fails his constituents — the newspaper's readers — abysmally.

Don't joke about this, Tom Hunt *will* be tweeting QANON memes and EDL type-incitement by the end of parliament.

We *will* be seeing a British 'Capitol Hill' by the end of the parliament. I've no idea what form it'll take, but we can guess who'll be inciting and instigating it. We've already had knife attacks at law firms and death threats to judges thanks to the current bunch.

A more general Star question - anyone know what their circulation figures are nowadays? I’m sure they’ve slumped the last couple decades in line with most other newspapers. Just wondering how low they’ve gone

As Telford have Lucy Allan as their MP, I don't think they will need Tom Hunt to find them.

The last figure I heard for the EADT circulation for the print edition was around the 12,000 (twelve thousand) mark.

And that was pre-lockdown.

By implication the Star will be significantly lower.

Oh and he pushes antisemite conspiracy theories so yeah.

It is really out of order that the Ipswich Star have essentially given him a right-wing opinion blog. The EDP isn't much different though to be fair, how it is allowed considering local news is supposed to be impartial I'm not sure.
