Another card in football? 08:40 - Feb 14 with 2410 viewsMattinLondon

The good thing about football is its simplicity. it’s fairly easy to pickup with easy rules to follow. But I was thinking, what with so many yellow cards being shown (compared to say ten years ago) is it time to introduce another card into the game?

For example, Teddy Bishops second yellow, when he was sent off, was quite soft. Do you think if it was deemed to be a ‘green card’ offence, that would be more fitting? Say two yellows equal a red but two ‘greens’ equals a ‘yellow card’?

Just a thought.

People who suggest third cards and sin bins need shooting.

People who refuse to allow progress need a sledgehammer to smack them hard on the balls.

Progress is things like goalline technology. I just hate the idea of sin bins and extra cards. Not progress IMO.

Truly impaired.

Don't want a third card, but cynical obviously deliberate fouls on the halfway line when a team is breaking are the thing to cut out - I'd support a 10 minute sin-bin for that kind of clearly deliberate offence.

I'm not entirely against sin bins but it would only work with a few modifications.

Maybe swap the grass for an ice surface.

I suppose the footwear might need a rethink.

And instead of a round ball, which wouldn't do at all on ice, a flatter design would be more appropriate.

You won't want to kick that mind, so might be an idea to introduce some kind of stick to strike it with.

See it just takes a bit of thought.
