Where will this club be in 10 years time? 09:19 - Feb 15 with 2122 views | LancsBlue | In 1972 Aston Villa were in Division 3, in 1982 they were Champions of Europe. Probably not realistic for us, but what's the best (or worst) case scenario?

Indeed. 10 years is a long time in football. If we appoint worse than Lambert when he eventually goes and Evans cannot sell up and for whatever reason no longer covers the losses we could go the same way as Bury. If we appoint fantastically well, a rich businessman/consortium sees the potential and comes in and backs the manager successfully, the sky is still the limit. Unfortunately, right now one scenario looks highly plausible and the other looks like the 1 in a billion scenario.

Where will this club be in 10 years time? on 09:43 - Feb 15 with 2025 views | Churchman | A new club will be formed and will be moving up the pyramid with plenty of positive momentum. The strip will be blue with white sleeves, the badge either the old town badge or the Suffolk county one. Burley will be club president, Dyer managing the team and Lambert will be trying to fix his DVD player so he can enjoy the glory days at Dortmund while munching his lunch, delivered in a little box. The training ground will be a fine display of starter homes and the team will be training next to the ground. In 2034, they will be promoted to the promised land and champions the following season. Kieron will then guide England to a 2038 World Cup win. Sorted

Last line Should that be... 1 in a billionaire scenario?

Where will this club be in 10 years time? on 11:48 - Feb 15 with 1892 views | Radlett_blue | The best scenario for Town is to be either a Leicester (incredibly unlikely), a Burnley (possible) or a yo-yo club like Norwich. Realistically, Town will return to the 2nd tier within a few years & depending on funding, could be a Rotherham yo-yo club or a lower to mid table 2nd tier club (which was what encouraged us to get rid of Mick). A genuine assault on promotion to the Premier League will require funding way beyond what Evans is able or willing to provide.

Where will this club be in 10 years time? on 11:50 - Feb 15 with 1885 views | SomethingBlue | Best: we suddenly hit upon something that works and rise up the leagues fairly quickly, becoming a well-run yo-yo club akin to Norwich. Worst: we become trapped in the lower leagues when the music stops and end up bobbling around in a regionalised third tier, occasionally threatening the play-off for the one promotion spot to Premier League 2.

Where will this club be in 10 years time? on 12:15 - Feb 15 with 1843 views | Bluedandy | Still held captive by Marcus Evans in the basement of English football club ... Or alternatively in the top flight empowered by a new owner with radical vision and ambition or at the very least occupying the upper reaches of the Championship ... So much can change in a decade just look at Brentford or Luton ... minnows in comparison to Town but currently light years ahead of us in terms of how they are run. For that to happen the club needs a total overhaul including the removal of Marcus Evans as owner. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I’d like to think a fans group could take control or as much as I love FPR, something can be sorted with the IBC interms of FPR being sold and a new ground built with the same Cobbold caveats put in place at the new ground. Somehow the club has to evolve and if it means a new sports complex and retail park outside of Ipswich centre then it has to be considered. Reading that back sound horrible but we have drifted in a downward spiral for 20 years. It has to stop and we need to be progressive. Ipswich and Suffolk has enough about it to come up with something special. We just have to squeeze every drop out of the Ipswich Town history and Suffolk heritage and beauty.

There seems very little worth investing in. What exactly would be the potential reward for investment in a League One club with a dwindling fanbase which isn’t being developed for the next generation. Im in farming and sometimes you just accept that it has to become an existence rather than something you take pleasure from. It’s a sad state.

If Town are taken over by a fans' group, they won't be able to fund ongoing losses & Town will be condemned to at best being a yoyo club between the 2nd & 3rd tiers.

No way in a month of sundays a fans group would be able to make us a success, as romantic as it sounds.

Even the best case scenario, whilst way above our current level, is somewhat depressing.

The rest of the football league will give up and we'll have franchise football. We will be part of the East Anglia Vikings, formed of Ipswich, Colchester, MK and Peterborough playing out of Stadium MK. You'll be able to buy a flat where Portman Road once stood.
