I recall him being diagnosed with throat cancer many years ago. One of those solid players on the circuit. Never made it particularly big but was one of the best century break builders the game has seen. I think it was he, who lost in the final to give Steve Davis his first world title.

He won one or two of the bigger tournaments (I think the Masters and U.K.) and made the final of the World Championship. A good player in his day and I gather a nice bloke. He was.one of the early faces of Pot Black. RIP
