That sort of thing rings a bell with me. With Mrs Churchy I’ve used the hmm, yes, difficult isn’t it responses with reasonable success for years, but now and again the tactics fail.
The thing that grinds my gears is that if I’m watching something she’s not too interested in and I am, she’ll happily talk through it if she feels the need. If she’s watching some awful dirge like Call the ffing Midwife and I so much as rustle a paper, blow my nose or unwrap a sweet, all sorts of grumpiness breaks out. Why do they do that?
