Most of the money from a pension fund????? 17:07 - Feb 26 with 3799 viewsnodge_blue

No thanks.

Pension funds definitely don't care about anything other than returns on investments.

This could be worse than Evans.

If the intention is to put us in a better place and sell us on with a profit which it clearly is,then I'm all for it.

Which they could do for how cheaply they bought it assuming we got promoted. My concern is they have left it too late for this season as we ideally need a new manager and a new centre forward.

Marcus Evans didn’t get a return on his investment as we went downhill during his tenure.

Intrigued as to know why you wouldn’t want these guys to get a return when the only way they will do this is if we are successful?

I suppose the big question is how the money is coming from the pension fund.

Are they buying the club in the traditional sense of the word, or would they be loaning the money to the consortium over a fixed period of time at a fixed rate of interest?

I cant think of many, if any, football clubs that I would want anywhere near my pension fund! This is a worry, but perhaps these guys are very confident in their ability to succeed in an area where many have tried before & failed? Doesn't seem to be a track record? But perhaps they see what I actually see, & that is a wonderful club, with glorious history, with a strong & patient fanbase, which has fallen by the wayside, just needed some proper TLC & the right people to put it on the upward curve. We are very probably at rock bottom anyway, so now is the time for a positive group of investors. not forgetting we have a very popular singer as a fan!

I think the worry is that decisions will be made on short term gains regardless of what might be the better thing for the long term future of the club.

I know we all look at how things have been run here and think it can't be that hard to put a proper structure in place and reap the rewards, well a lot of clubs seem to prove that actually it maybe is hard to do that.

It has surprised me how many people think a pension fund has taken a gamble on a football team.

Surely it's much more likely their return will be the same whether we are in league one or the Champions League?

It makes sense that they are on a fixed return. Low risk returns in a time where the stock market looks overpriced and risky.

It's bound to be too late for this season as presumably it'll be a while before the takeover goes through. What's stuffed us over this season is Evans not acting earlier (presumably because of all this). That can't be laid at the door of the new lot (IF it happens).

I think anyone who wants to sell a business for a profit has to turn it around first. So that's in our favour.

If they want to sell easily, then a potential buyer will need to see future value, so short term gain can't be entirely the idea.

This pension fund looks like it'll be a high risk high reward type investment (has to be with football) and long term is usually the attraction when risk is higher to even out the ups and downs, especially in football.

It's certainly high risk though.

Yes but theres also a bit of ego for some owners. I doubt Roman A sees Chelsea as entirely an investment that will profit him.

Some owners like Evans even probably were ok running a loss if its was within his comfort zone.

I cant see Pension funds taking any areas of grey.

Surely it's the other way round, a football team taking a gamble on a pension fund? They will get their money back regardless of what it does to us if it's possible.

Not suggesting they're Tony Sopranoesque, but there won't be much in the sense of leeway.

booo, our club has become a lackey of the capitalist overlords.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

No person/company/investor who buys a football club doesn’t care about a return on their investment. That’s why they buy it. No one buys a club with the specific aim of losing all their money.

I don't think the pension fund will have any involvement at all, other than getting their repayments from the consortium.

A consortium of relative nobodies who need pension fund money to make a purchase.

This is all great.

And we think that the club is detached from the fanbase now?
