I know younger than my dad. Doesn’t say what he died of. Think he had a brain tumour years ago

Brain tumour.

I seem to remember he was taken ill with it some years ago. I think he was at Newcastle at the time.

Very sad. Only 65. I remember him particularly as a player, initially at Leyton Orient and at some point Newcastle. A good player followed by a few years in management.

I was reading earlier that Peter Lorimer of of the great Revie Leeds team (dirty Leeds!) is in a hospice sadly. Now he was a great player with an almighty shot on him.

I mainly remember him at QPR. Playing in the cup final in '82. Always struck me as very tall and elegant.

Indeed, knocked me for six when I heard this today, one of the best defenders I’ve seen play, was years ahead of his time.

I remember when he was Newcastle caretaker manager and was being interviewed. Something wasn't right. Next day he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Thought he'd recovered as that was years ago...

Heard Anton Ferdinand on Talkshait on Friday night describe Roeder as his favourite manager.

Very sad

I will forever think of him as a QPR player and FA Cup final captain.
