seem to suggest that the economic impact isn't that big or long lasting (if it exists at all).

I'd like us to host the WC again but it seems like it probably wouldn't have a major, long term, impact on the economy and any public money spent on the bid and eventual hosting could probably be better spent elsewhere.

I'm also more than a little cynical about the motivation of a narcissistic populist (but that could just be my age).

*UEFA. I think it's a bit of a populist move too, but I'd be happy to have the tournament over here (as long as we don't open borders to fans yet) and makes more practical sense than everyone travelling across Europe for it.

Things seem to have improved since that c@nt Cumming left. Read something the other day suggesting (in disapproving, perhaps sexist tones) that Princess Nut Nut might be in charge. If it is her influence, then great. sod it.
