Nice one. On paper at least that looks a very good appointment.

I'm hearing good things and it seems an obvious appointment. It's very much an appointment in the old mold of how Evans usually operates (a known figure, success at promotion), but that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be another bad one. He's also a lower league specialist, which will help us now.

The uncertainty for me is whether he's going to be able to step up if we want to push on in the Championship. But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself on that one as we've got to get there first.

We were desperate for a change so, so I'm quite happy with this. No idea how he'll get on; just hope he can make difference this season.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Indeed. Making a difference this season is the first and most crucial step. His record is very decent including little sign that he needs time to get a team working or taking a step back in order to take two forward. He also comes across well as a man with a simple passion for the game so hopefully he can be a man-manager that can get the team moving and players excited about the challenge – that has always been my main criteria for the manager and exactly what we’d need this season.

Long-term, I think he answered the question re: the Championship with Wigan. Was just the points deduction that did for them. So it doesn't feel remotely like Paul Hurst who seemed out of his depth. At least we know that Cook has got a newly promoted side performing there which would be the next hurdle.
