...what would you like to see in terms of a fans/club relationship?
I think a fans representative on the board, one that switches regularly through a fan vote to prevent vetted interests embedding, would go a LONG way for communication and keeping us happy.
We need to bring back community initiatives more too, Scum have been poaching our territories for far too long. |  |

1) An owner who regularly speaks to the fans
2) A bumper incentive to get more season ticket holders on board
3) The removal of Magical Vegas from our shirts permanently (not sure the latest on that)
4) A tidying up of the ground/stands etc
5) An improvement in the level of catering on offer
6) Phil being let back in

MV is now owned by Rank Group (Mecca Bingo and Grovenor Casinos are their two biggest portfolio brands) and I believe some prominent folks at RG have a relationship with ME through past employment. Based on that I doubt they’ll stick around for long. [Post edited 3 Mar 2021 10:25]

Problem we have had is virtually the entire relationship between club and fans being conducted through the Manager. Which is thus, of course, dominated by performance on the pitch.
It's not that Clegg, Milne and O'Neill have been incompetent, just that their position leaves them unable to be truly dynamic. They appear to have had little leeway (or budget) to initiate anything without approval from the owner and only had the very occasional, often purely functional, message to pass on. Milne, at least, was brave enough to come to the pub and chat to fans face-to-face even during a period of strife.
Evans, meanwhile, has been both a lurking presence and an interactive void. A desire for personal privacy is fine, but he could have communicated a lot more, even without showing himself on camera. It reinforced the impression that he was merely shovelling money in and letting things drift, both on and off the pitch.
So what we need is a visible presence, representing the club (not just the coaching team), able to initiate action and front it up, preferably with good media handling skills. |  |

My dad was the one who actually said this idea to me a few years back, as a Town supporter who gave it all up not long after Evans appeared in protest of how he forced people with a better local relationship out of the board and decision making to install his Yes Men. | |

It's a very good question, one where the scope for improvement is both vast and fairly easily (cheaply) obtained. As Guthers says the relationship has almost been defined by the first-team manager and is thus susceptible to the vagaries of form and mood. One thing that stood out from the article in The Athletic, was that Keane, Jewell and Hurst all made similar criticisms about Evans lack of involvement.
I'm cautious about fan representation but think your point about regular change is a good one, one exemplified by the moribund Supporters' Trust.
Also community engagement, this was carelessly scrapped by Evans and one reason I will continue to defend LON is his work in reinstating some of this - it's essential that a club like Ipswich - no immediate competitors, high potential catchment area - is embedded in the community as the competition comes from TV football. The club had to be shamed into giving tickets to schools by a fan-led initiative FFS.
On a tangential note, improving the catering and service, local suppliers and sufficient supplies with staff paid enough to get more than the basic level of service is an another fairly quick win. |  |

While not good, even that wouldn't have been so much of an issue if Evans' men had been (or were allowed to be) more dynamic and positive in relations between club and fans/the town. Particularly once Simon Milton was gone, things really seemed to tail off. | |

Public relations are going to be key with this whole venture to get the" buy-in" not just locally but now , internationally of course (run before we can walk and all that I know)
The first big commercial decision will be how the club now go to market with their offer of season tickets. Will it be a case of sell cheaper with incentives wrapped up with the sale of a season ticket to increase sales overall or will it be directed more toward a corporate style approach..or a mixture .Revenue now is key and they'll make it work I'm sure

It would be great to get someone like Simon Milton involved in the club again. Not too sure how that would improve fans/club relationship, but a great ambassador for the club who understands it's core values.

To be honest all this fan/ club relationship nonsense seemed to start with the Happy Clappy Matt Holland (great footballer,Ipswich Legend)
Back in the seventies /eighties we turned up, got pissed, cheered till we could cheer no more and that was it until the next home game.
HOWEVER and it`s a big however, if you wrote to the club you would get an immediate personnel reply and even get invited to the club to have a chat with one of the directors if really pissed.
