Cheltenham Festival - Day 2 Preview on 11:16 - Mar 17 with 3317 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Not got a great feeling about Chacun. Out of all the ‘favourites’ he’s the one I was least confident on. I really like Nube Negra In that race. Fast jumper, should place, but I think he can push Chacun close. What do you make of Amoola Gold ?? [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 11:22]

Cheltenham Festival - Day 2 Preview on 14:16 - Mar 17 with 2943 views | The_Romford_Blue | Antepost betting.. unreal. 14/1 on Bob Olinger and he wins at 6/4. 15/2 on Monkfish and he wins at 15/2. A grand back there in less than 45 minutes and I’m now up for the entire festival combined with yesterday’s winner too. Delighted lads. I love this sport.

I did put it up on here at the time in a gambling thread that the Shishkin antepost double ag 26/1 is my main antepost bet. Hopefully a few have that. Cheering on a 1/4 fav tomorrow for a big sum will be a weird experience

Cheers. Sadly wasn't to be. Capuccimix placing would see me break even for the festival with two days of betting to go. Fingers crossed. Edit: 0.25 pts Zanza EW when I saw Rommers and both social stable guy stip it. That makes me to 10 points staked for the day. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 16:12]

This is paying six places. I think it came sixth? Miscalculated anyway. It won't pay for the festival but it's a 20 point win if it did come sixth.

I’m loving it like that. Means the best horses aren’t being beaten because of a 300/1 no hoper getting in the way. Most of these odds on favs are like 6/1+ for me being an antepost punter so I won’t complain if they can keep winning

Like with just about every other sport, I'm finding I can't really get into it this year. It's the absence of crowds & any kind of real atmosphere - I've discovered (and this was a big surprise to me) that really, my enjoyment of sport is as much about the people, the atmosphere & being part of a mutually shared, noisy experience, as the sport itself.

forgive me for the thicko question, do you place your bets for next year miles in advance then? hence the big odds. I don't bet, so don't really understand how it all works. (my 50p EW yesterday got me £4.57 back btw lol)

Yes mate. My bets are placed over the whole year for Cheltenham with the odds being much much bigger. So the three key examples are yesterday I had: - 6/4 favourite in race 1 Bob Olinger at 14/1 placed back in October. - 1/4 favourite in race 2 Monkfish at 15/2 placesd back in August. - 5/2 second favourite Sir Gerhard at 20/1 placed back in October. Obviously doesn’t take many of those in the week to guarantee a profit. I stake around £3,000 across the year on Cheltenham (that amount includes £1,000 in free bets used weekly on it across the year) and have returned that amount already (half of that coming from the three winners I just mentioned) with two days to go. I had the Shishkin and Envoi Allen double at 26/1 and bigger pretty much with tenners weekly for two months. Envoi completing that double today in the first race pays a good four figure amount. Would also mean a £3 treble at 250/1 of Shishkin, Envoi and Fury Road would go onto the latter in the 3:05 for another high amount. So as you can imagine, envoi Allen at odds on in the first race is one that I am very keen to see win. It’s quite feasible I could end up making a £5k profit this week if things keep going well. Worst case scenario with the next 14 races all being losers and I’ll still be up for the week. It’s risky antepost because non runners before the festival even starts and you lose your stake. However, the rewards outdo the risk if you can read a market and who’s going to end up running where. Helps I also have information from the top yard in Ireland with knowing a friend of a friend in the yard and the same situation for the second best in England. So can verify a couple of horses if needed as to their targets.
