Well I haven't got off my bum to protest many times before, but I will be now 12:11 - Mar 17 with 1849 viewsRyorry

Because the removal of our right to protest about the removal of our right to protest is the most fundamentally anti-democratic, extremist, devious, authoritarian, Machiavellian coup in the UK for a C. And they can't arrest us all.

The Policing Bill was passed last night by a majority of 96 (due to some MPs missing votes & others, notably the DUP, abstaining), despite David Lammy's excellent fighting speach against it). Here are the figures -

How long is that in place for though? Thought it ended in June?

No, I think you're confusing it with temporary Covid restrictions on gatherings.

The Police Bill that's being discussed in the thread & that was voted on last night in the HoP, is for putting on the Statute Book as a permanent law unless or until it's repealed at some point in the future (which wouldn't happen for at least 4 years now with the current lot's 80 seat majority).

And probably not repealed by any future government if we're honest

Truly despicable. We cannot let them get away with this, it is an attack on all of us.

Also, not sure if it has been mentioned on here elsewhere, but they have announced a plan to increase our number of nuclear warheads by around 40%. Not sure that is even legal under the the Non-Proliferation Treaty, but when has the law meant anything to these cretins.

I just don't accept that, we should always be working towards repealing such appalling powers. We're the ones with the votes, it's up to us & our powers of publicity & persuasion of those not already onside to get them to see exactly what is going on here - which is a very dark looking tunnel on a slippery slope.

Doesn't help that there was no mention of it on the main 10pm BBC News last night (Tues)
