Was thinking about this today, 40 years since maybe our most memorable away performance, to this year, and another memorable away performance near that date, but for vastly different reasons. 40 years ago me and my mate were in my bedroom awaiting updates on Radio Orwell, no live commentry back then! For some reason we watched this from a different spot in the ground, used to stand on the lower level, on my box and against the wall at the back of the West (Pioneer) stand.

Watched this from the gods on the other side of the ground, I remember it because I swapped scarfs with a French fan who was behind us.

I thought it would always be like this.

And on the Saturday after we went to Forest, huge following. A before the game a line of lads in late teens/early 20’s snaked through the crowd chanting ‘Allez Le Bleur’. They all had different coloured Lacoste’s on. Think they’d made a round trip of it. I can see it now. As a team I think our season peaked in the Forest replay, a magical night. Then the fatigue started to cut in..
