A very architectural plant is the globe artichoke. Good eating too.
It is (both) and surprisingly easy to grow too if you allow plenty of space & watch out for slugs. Got about 5 heads av. per plant last year, & looks like at least 3 of th 5 plants I had last year have survived the hard winter.
