My daughter has been stuck indoors with me and my partner since she moved here in December, and although we're an UTTER JOY to be around I think it's healthy for her to have a social life beyond us when we're allowed to.
Also doesn't help she's learned from a young age a general dislike and distrust in people and doesn't like socialising, alas that's a blessing and a curse I can say from personal experience. It's a battle as my fatherly responsibility swings between totally relating to the mental health aspect but also being fully aware of how the real world works.
Not a plea of SOMEONE PLEASE BEFRIEND MY DAUGHTER because she'd kill me hahaha.
But I know outside of the DIRTY GRUNGER scene all sorts of music and social things go on I'm too old and out-of-touch to attend, it would be nice to encourage her to go off and build her own life here. Wondering if there are any directions I can push her for things she might like to check out.

Hollywoods on a Monday night, Harry Palmers, Golden Lion and Sonic Flower.
Surly Ipswich can’t have changed that much in twenty years?
The pub on the docks used to be a favourite, but that was 35 years ago now when the docks first started to open up. Golden Lion used to do events upstairs (I hurled all over their new carpet after my first proper session on Abbot Ale lol).

Oh man. Harry Palmers. You've taken me on a trip down memory lane there.
Pronouns: He/Him/His.

Late teens but not of legal drinking age.
Difficult age to be sure. When I was a teenager in Ipswich at that age, you hardly ever got challenges when ordering alcohol drinks. Nowadays you can’t do that. Does she have a circle of close friends, and do they spend time in each other’s houses?

Latitude's happening in a few months. I find (as a late teen myself) that it always has a really chilled out, friendly vibe. Easy to meet new people there.
Can't really speak for Ipswich though as I'm a bit more rurally based than you big city lot.

Sounds like the Slough office with Brent at the helm.
The Smokehouse would be a good starting point when it opens again. Loads of great bands, friendly crowd, and accessible for non drinking age teens.
Always cheap/free to get in, and bar is cheap too.
A lot of what they do there is providing a platform for up and coming bands, that tend to be young by definition, so attract a younger crowd a lot of the time.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Sounds like she needs a hobby. I had fishing at that age; I didn’t need anything else and it kept me out of all sorts of bother as I got older. There must be something that would float her boat that needs a bit of time investment. It could be club based or something she does on her own, doesn’t really matter.

At the end of the night, walking down those stairs took some real effort.
Why walk when you can stumble?!
Thinking of drunkenly stumbling out of places... I had a fair few decent evenings at the Caribbean Club during that period too.
What was the other night that was going on around that period? Sometimes at the Corn Exchange. I want to say 'Furry'?

Yeah I remember something like that, talking of stumbling downstairs, Pams House at the Attic in the early days was frought with danger when leaving and the amount of people falling down Liberty's stairs was collosal, girls having had 14 bacardi breezers trying to navigate those stairs with high heels was hilarious.

ðŸ‘👠At the Smokehouse (www.thesmokehouse.org) you can also volunteer from 16+ Learn the ropes of sound engineering, lighting, front of house, social media team etc... there’s also opps to be a part of the Sound City Ipswich festival team. Can’t wait for the gigs to start again.
