Any DIY's on here? on 12:22 - Mar 24 with 1344 views | NthQldITFC | Sounds good, maybe wrap the tarp up and over a wooden frame to guard against splinters? Also, probably want some sort of cover otherwise cats will sh*t in it and you probably don't want your boys mining feline defecant!

When I was a nipper I had a sandpit. We had a cat. We didn't know. Fast forward 50+ years and I have a retinopathy test. 'Did you have a cat when you were little?', I was asked. 'Yes'. 'Thought so, you've a very small amount of toxoplasmosis in your eye. Nothing to worry about. Loads of people of your age have it.'

Toximoplasmosis is a pathogen that alters the behaviour of its host for its own benefit. It has been shown to make mice lose their fear of cats, meaning that the cats eat the infected mice easier and sht it out for easier transmission. It's very common in France, due to their love of eating raw or undercooked meat. It is that, along with their propensity for drinking strong coffee late at night, that I believe is responsible for making them all so fwcking mad.

Very good point Mr F I You need to buy proper play pit sand
Any DIY's on here? on 14:44 - Mar 24 with 1186 views | eireblue | Hmmm, I thought that a sandpit would be quite easy, but the TWTD collective have come up with many valid considerations, and it seems more complicated and expensive that I would have initially thought. The only thing I could add is, have you considered trading in your children for cats? Would solve some issues as far as I can tell.

It's a possibility, and one you should look into. Most medical professionals should be able to help you diagnose it.

Kiln dried sand for patios/block paving is the same stuff and tends to be cheaper (you can get it in b&q/wickes etc)

I suppose in lieu of a cover, some very small landmines could be pressed into service? They would be a doddle to deploy and remove in sand, and you could have a coded flag system to warn the kids if they had not been removed in the morning.
