After not playing competitive games over a year and a half, this doesn't come as surprise. You can train all you like, but it's no substitute for actually playing games and having match fitness under your belt. We've rushed him back because he is one of our better players, but this was always the likely outcome.

Agreed, ridiculously stupid decision and one which cannot be laid at anyone’s door but Cook’s.

Surely we have ‘medical’ staff at the club who make recommendations to the manager on players fitness? You’d like to think given his record Cook would only have played him on the confirmation he was fit. KVY played 10 mins at Pompey and 45 mins today all in the space of 8 days, hardly being thrown in with 90 mins Saturday/Tuesday.

Standard for this club

At least we can get excited about his next game in 2023.

Our sports science guy is on garden leave. Rumour has it it’s because he disagreed with Lameberk over rushing players back from injury.
Banter.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Medical staff? I can’t imagine rehab facilities, kit and expertise have moved on since Royle/Burnley’s time. Investment is hardly a word you can associate with Evans and ITFC. I bet even the bucket and sponge are museum pieces.

Yes, but you need to factor in the length of time he has been out. I was surprised with him starting today. Although, KVY is an experienced player of 120 odd professional games, I'm sure PC would have asked him to see how his body is holding up and trusted him with his answer. Just seems too much, too soon. No easing back in, thrown straight in to the lion's den. Perhaps KVY's selection shows PC's trust in Woolfie too?
