Car insurance renewal 22:14 - Mar 29 with 520 viewsPendejo

Recently renewed my car insurance and because I'd been caught being a naughty boy* my insurance quotes were double last year, despite the fact I'd taken it down to SDP only and recduced annual mileage by 10,000 as no longer commuting to work.

Running a check, it also appears declaring my occupation as unemployed weighs the price also.

Then up popped a black box policy, 10% increase of premium despite reduction of cover, so I took that up, despite some harsh t&c's and charges for breathing!

I've now has 2 emails critiquing my driving...

Driving style I score really well, but hey I used to be a professional driver and have many years experience managing professional drivers. Put it this way I can drive like a chauffeur.

When I drive scores highly because I rarely drive after 21:00 and don't drive before 09:00 (until this week)

But I score poorly for where I drive 2/100... Err I live in London, so I drive in London. I gave my post code for which they have a price... And we are only just coming out of a lockdown, so hardly gonna be pottering around Ipswich am i?

At least I'm under target for mileage, which will be tested when I make a regular journey to Ipswich.

I spent 12 years working as an insurance underwriter, so understand this stuff but can't agree that the extra points make me a worse risk than the year before whereas my now on 36 years fault claim free driving seem meaningless...

* 2 SP30s on 2 consecutive working nights 5 nights apart. Motorway @ 22:00 in exactly the same spot. Doh!
