We've been told that structural racism isn't a problem in the UK, that the Met police's refusal to facilitate a safe vigil and subsequently arresting women at a vigil is hunky dory and nothing at all to do with the inappropriate pressure from the Home Secretary, and Boris having an affair with a woman whilst simultaneously directing public money her way is "acting with honesty and integrity".

What next?

I'd love some evidence that he was a member of the SNP. I'm sure you're not referring to the dodgy articles and tweets from Guido and Tom Harwood which were literally based on entries from wikipedia added the day they reported them.

Indeed.

The shameless hypocrisy of these people is quite mind-blowing. Yeah, Sturgeon is the problem and the test for a corrupt politician ...

I agree with you in part but I don't feel that, "those who picked the side of liars and charlatans will wholeheartedly back those liars and charlatans to the hilt." What I do feel is that there is no sensible middle ground and at the same time, being 'middle ground' is suddenly seen as being something 'dirty' or 'lacking' in some way. When there isn't anything sensible in the middle the vast majority of people are left with a choice of either siding with a 'side' you don't agree with (and as you say, it has become two 'sides') or simply living with the status quo.

I have explained till I was blue in the face as to why Brexit has been disastrous for the NHS alone.

Someone listened, nodded sagely, asked sensible questions to clarify points I'd made and said 'blimey, I never thought of that'.
And then proudly declared they'd still vote the same.

Brexit was, and is, a cult. Sadly, too few of these people will ever admit to being conned.

So much is depressing about this whole situation. Not only is it propaganda playing to the Tory base, it deflected by highlighting another important issue of class, safe in the knowledge absolutely nobody will do anything to address the imbalance, least of all this disgusting government.

Hmmm, yes I see what you mean, there are probably enough people that believe Boris will read a 300 page document, and will get racism done, in a good way, he doesn’t do the bad racism, obvs.

Did this get mentioned yet....
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/mar/31/police-watchdog-accused-of-skewi

"The Guardian has learned that the whistleblower, Alice O’Keeffe, has officially complained to her bosses at Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS). She believes the civil service code was breached. HMICFRS said it was assessing her claims.

Her formal written complaint contains allegations that HMICFRS told the home secretary in a private letter it backed the need to change protest laws five months before its report was published.

O’Keeffe’s written complaint was made as HMICFRS worked on a separate report on the policing of a vigil for Sarah Everard. She said the biases she had seen left her fearing a report into the policing of the vigil would be a whitewash."

Surely not, I demand a Royal Commission!!

The problem with absolutely all of this is that, tragically, not enough voters give a sh7t about any of it — because we have a woeful social and political education in this country, meaning the end product is a selfishness, indolence and intellectual lethargy endemic throughout England that waves all manner of shocking behaviour through.

Quite. It gets more disturbing week by week. They are gaslighting the public on a mass scale. It's all very Make Britain Great Again, but they've got no interest in actually making Britain Great, their aim is to lie about our past and present to give their base the impression that we're great. It's proper 1984 stuff at this point.

We need to stop looking at the famine as purely a bad thing, it helped to create an Irish/American and Irish/British identity that has then fed into how we think of American and British identity. Or some such b0llocks.

I find that an incredibly stupid statement. And worse that it came from somebody like Tony Sewell. Himself a POC.

I’ve not yet read the report, busy couple of days, but the bullet points that have been reported smack of head in sand stuff.

Government lead reports are never truly independent. If an org like Hope Not Hate had put together a report I’m sure it would have drawn completely different conclusions.

Btw, have you read this year’s State of Hate report? I recall you linking 2018’s edition. I’ve downloaded it but not yet had the time to read it.

Indeed. And with a government who are going to be campaigning around culture and dismissing any opposition on that basis plus letting loose their culture warriors in the media and on social media, hey presto here’s a report that turns structural racism into an issue of individuals and cultures.

Deeply abhorrent, disingenuous and dangerous stuff.
