Got to be a convincing win today, surely? on 11:22 - Apr 5 with 820 views | pointofblue | The problem is what have we seen to make us confident that a convincing win is on the way? We have had spells - first 20 v Plymouth, almost the entire first half v Portsmouth, first 15 minutes on Friday - but haven’t been able to keep going or re-find that dominance. Admittedly we dud seem to be building a head of steam again against Plymouth before Downes went off and we at least claimed a foothold on Friday, even if it was far too easy for them, but... We seem to concede at the moment so a scrappy 2-1, again, is the best we can hope for.

I'm not even convinced we'll win today. We don't create enough to see, even the poorer sides, off.

We need to fall back into some passages of passing and holding the ball... on 11:53 - Apr 5 with 760 views | unstableblue | ....its funny how we all bemoaned the toothless passing across the back line, and long passages of passing around in deep midfield.. but in some ways we need to get back into that a little more... just take control of the game, get confident on the ball.... then allow bishop to break between the lines, or get some service down the channel or to the width We've lacked composure and posession in these recent unconvincing performances, and we need that back, as a platform to grow from. Hopefully with some better numbers going forward and more adventurous forward play. Our better play in the last two seasons, has been passing forward in packs, and overloading wide or the edge of the boxes, OR passes into the channels, then good crossing to oncoming midfielders.... that seems to have evaporated a little; although I do recall some nice moves with Jackson, Kenlock, Bishop, Norwood and Judge that has looked better, but too infrequent over the last few months

You did nothing but praise Woolfy and McGuinness.

what a random and unnecessary reply! Get back to your Mick shrine Mullet, the joss sticks and fruit offerings are looking tired. Or perhaps answer my post with something constructive. I think we've lost some of our passing composure which let the team settle into a rhythm; albeit often a toothless one. Get some of it back so we can build confidence in the players, combined with some more attacking play Cook is asking for, and it could be a good combination.

It’s never ‘a platform to grow’ for us. It’s a cop out to avoid doing anything positive. So we could do it if we are hoping for a 0-0. Personally I would prefer it if we tried to do a goal thingy. Maybe even two.

It does seem to suggest that these players are capable of doing well in this division, but are heavily traumatised by the last three and possibly more years. I doubt that such a long drawn out, mismanaged demise has often been seen in football, which is why I for one am prepared to give these lads unconditional support for the rest of the season (EDIT: given that they finally have a decent manager to work under), whilst totally understanding why some people have lost all patience with them. It's last chance saloon, but COME ON YOU BLUES! [Post edited 5 Apr 2021 12:24]

Totally agree... BUT in recent games we seem to start with good passing in middle, breaking forward with real attacking energy, then lose our way, lose the press, and then go completely shambolic in shape and possession. Revert back to some passing to stretch the oppo and get confidence on the ball, whilst also getting the numbers forward and overloads where we seem to have joy We’ve just looked lost once early energy has passed, difficult at times to see any game plan or confidence

Got to be a convincing win today, surely? on 12:59 - Apr 5 with 559 views | Cheltenham_Blue | It'll run to the normal pattern I'd imagine. Lots of endeavour in the opening 25-30 minutes, hopefully enough to nick a goal, but maybe not. 60 minutes of parking the bus and inviting them onto us, where they might score 1 possibly 2.
