I'm not saying I'm disappointed with Cook being appointed but on 17:46 - Apr 5 with 2079 views | ArnieM | If the Cowleys had managed to get anything out of our squad ( which I seriously doubt they would have btw) it would have papered over the cracks. These players need to be held TOTALLY accountable for their shyte performance week on week . They’ve had THREE years as a squad and have failed every single season . It’s the players who are at fault , NOT Paul Cook. I actually want us to lose a couple of Hanes now . End this ridiculous play off notion and allow Cook to tip up this squad NOW and start to rebuild ( target players etc ) before this season ends . He’s going to need as many weeks as possible before the start of next season. Kick this f licking shower of shyte into touch......

I'm not saying I'm disappointed with Cook being appointed but on 17:50 - Apr 5 with 2074 views | haynes_toe1 | People say 'Pep couldn't have turned this around' I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure a limited manager like Mick would have got more out of this squad than Cook has so far. Cook has a good enough reputation to suggest he deserves the summer to bring his own players in but let's not make things up - we've actually performed worse under him and attained a worse PPG than under Lambert who was a poor manager himself.. Managers have come into much worse situations than just outside the playoffs on the back of three wins and had an instant impact, so let's stop making pathetic excuses.

Mick is one of my favourite ITFC managers and I wasn't calling for him to go when everyone else was. What I meant was I believe a manager of Micks ilk would have achieved more with this squad than Cook and doesn't need to be extreme examples like Pep. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Micks about as pragmatic as they come. Complete dinosaur. New bounce effect at Cardiff is gone and they're now left with the real Mick. 3-0 down inside 30 mins against 2nd bottom team

To some he will be. Lambert was to him too. That went well. The funny thing is I agree Cook deserves time and opportunity but he is equally able to be criticised. I think Cook has practically criticised himself in a previous interview, for not doing what I suggested he do from the start..

Mick has managed in the Premier League and at international level. I'm not sure saying even a manager of Mick's ilk would do more than Cook makes the point you think it makes. We're a League 1 side, Mick is quite literally out of our league. [Post edited 5 Apr 2021 18:08]

I'm not saying I'm disappointed with Cook being appointed but on 16:57 - Apr 5 by Swansea_Blue | It's fair to say had we appointed the Cowleys and Cook had gone to Pompey, it's still likely they'd have had a new manager bounce and not us. It's the way Evan's decisions roll. |
You don’t get any sort of bounce if you have a load of disinterested dross playing for you from an unbalanced, inadequate squad. Collectively and individually they are awful. I just wish they’d remove the club badge when they play. They insult it week in week out.

Until the Summer, pretty much. I've said before, it'll be disappointing and concerning if Cook can't ultimately get more out of this squad than Lambert could. But he's got a good record at this level and we should trust that. If his methods don't work with this group of players, he gets the opportunity to find a group of players it can work with. That's it. [Post edited 5 Apr 2021 18:15]

Next season kicks off August 7th. So it's a short summer this year, especially if we do somehow manage to get into the playoffs.

I'm not saying I'm disappointed with Cook being appointed but on 17:00 - Apr 5 by blueprint | Cook has a bunch of clueless poor quality players to choose from. Portsmouth just needed some fresh ideas. To be honest we’re punching above our weight in this league with what we have at our disposal. |
Hold on, I thought any decent manager could get promotion with this squad. We now have an even bigger squad than at the start of the season, most long term injury players are back bar Downes (been mostly poor when he played),Nolan (never been any good) and we have got worse. Gill looked to be moving us on in the right direction and then we get a new manager with new ideas and it gets even more dire. Poor players, very poor management and no direction. Everyone on this site wanted Cook, Evans delivers and this is what you get. Funny how all the younger teams at the club seem to be doing ok, we should have appointed from within, and waited until the end of the season. Roberts as a coach? he was a second rate journeyman as a player.

Yeah I've worded it poorly, not for the first time! What I'm trying to say is these silly comments using Pep Guardiola as an example of a manager who apparently couldn't get any more out of this squad is, in my opinion, naive and silly. To the point that a manager the huge majority of our fanbase wanted rid of a few years ago would, in my opinion, have got more out of this squad than Cook has so far. Of course Mick is out of our league right now but he's a good example for obvious reasons - I.e he has proven he get more out of squads than their individual abilities - he achieved it with us for years

Yes even ole Mick with his 9 outfield players behind the ball , never crossing the half way line would have got a point today ... and probably a point in our last home game too ... I’ll give you that 👠

Roberts might be a second rate journeyman as a player. So was Alex Ferguson. Mourinho wasn’t much of a player at all. Brian Clough scored most of his goals in the second division. Being a good player doesn’t make you a good coach and visa versa. Roberts maybe useless, maybe good. Only time will tell.
