Handing in notice without a new job... 11:12 - Apr 6 with 7780 views | clive_baker | Always been of the mindset that it's a mad thing to do but I'm very much lacking motivation for my role (have been for a while in truth) and considering a change. Been at this company a number of years now and it's ran it's natural course for me. I don't have anything lined up, and being on a 6 month notice makes that harder as a lot of the roles are more immediately required. The security of 6 months has been lovely over the last year or so, I'm not knocking that. Been giving it a lot of thought and considering just handing the notice in and then upping the search over summer for an October start. Is it mad in these (or any other) circumstances?

Handing in notice without a new job... on 19:52 - Apr 6 by DebsyAngel | Thank you PJH - the support on this site has been remarkable, and nice to know so many caring people out there. I hope that the OP finds inspiration from the many stories on this thread to make the right decision. |
Glad the support on here has been as you say through what's been a tough period. Don't feel your work situation was you failing, sounds awful and think any of us would have struggled. Was certainly a failure of the management at the council.

Thanks Phil - this site is excellent - not just for the football stuff but the other posts where posters are constantly helping others who have struggled as well as me. Thanks to you and Gav for making this possible.
Handing in notice without a new job... on 21:06 - Apr 7 with 350 views | Melford | I did it with my last job, I was there 12 years. I was the only decent chef they could trust. Most weeks I was working 6 nights a week not getting home until gone eleven and it cost me the best relationship I've had in my life. I was killing myself physically and mentally, became an alcoholic. One of the younger chefs I was training up left because she couldn't take the hours and conditions and it woke me up and I said ***k this she's right. Told my bosses I want to be doing 50 hours max a week with 2 days off together and they said no can do so I handed my notice in. Took me a couple of months to find another job but now I've got 40 hours a week, 2 days off together and I'm valued instead of taken for granted. Now head chef running a kitchen with owners who ***king love me.
