Seems a genuinely nice bloke, still needs to be clued up a little but otherwise good to see an owner smiling and giving off a sense of positivity rather than the "ooh uhm theres only so much money to spend, but we have a 5 point plan to improve the turnstiles" talk of recent years.

Football League First Division / Premier League Champions (1): 1961—62 - Runners-up (2): 1980—81, 1981—82 Football League Second Division / EFL Championship Champions (3): 1960—61, 1967—68, 1991—92 - Play-off winners (1): 1999—2000 Football League Third Division / EFL League One Champions (2): 1953—54, 1956—57 - Southern League Champions (1): 1936—37 FA Cup Winners (1): 1977—78 - Texaco Cup Winners (1): 1972—73 UEFA Cup / UEFA Europa League Winners (1): 1980—81

Genuinely put a smile on my face listening to him.

Er... wow, I'm finding it hard to be cynical here...

Yeh of COURSE it can all go tits up, but surely everyone except the most rabid xenophobe can take this at face value.

Then... it IS the hope that kills innit...

Oh fook it, yeh I'm excited. Fook my last thread! COYFB MIGA

Top marks for an American who can say Ipswich correctly - having lived there for a good many years, you would be shocked at how hard Ipswich is for some of them to say.

"Where are you from?"

*Sigh* "Near London".

This isn't even remotely close to joking on Spruce's part. This is almost word for word the script I used too.

Generally an emotional day today, lucky to have grown up listening to the radio on our away trips in Europe as a kid and going to games since I was 6., it really feels like we are getting our club back today. I am sure when the owners visit next season, they will see just how fantastic Portman road is when our fans create that atmosphere. We can finally look forward to a brighter future and falling in love with going to football again. A very happy 53 year old and chuffed that the younger fans will be able to enjoy some good years ahead :) COYB :)

Comes across as very genuine chap indeed. Can't remember the last time I was this excited about the club.... Probably the day I moved into uni halls and hooked up my tele (didn't even have a remote just buttons) to see us either beating or drawing with Arsenal (can't remember which) to at the start of the 00/01 season.... best season in my living memory.

It's been a dour period following town and its just great to feel positive again

The Boston accent is by far the most crazy chaotic English-speaking dialect in the world. I spent some time in Boston and Maine, and while I understood every word they would say, Iwas always left bewildered and enchanted in equal measure.

Wont see much of him I doubt

He will be vocal and supportive on social media. But one of those non involved investors really.

I said enchanted by, not infuriated by. Gan raj and shopping backs and all that carrying on. Floppy armed figs, the lot of 'em.

Very true. I lived in Georgia for 2 years and every time I was asked whereabouts in the Uk I was from I replied Ipswich, only to be met with blank faces. Funnily enough if I mentioned Bentwaters or Mildenhall folks would go ohhhh I know where that is. Next question was almost always 'Do you know the queen?' FFS.........................................
