He's hurting because he knows that this is how it's going to be until the end of the season and he can't do anything about it. It must be hard coming in to work knowing that most of your staff don't give a f***.

He’s stopped short of naming individuals but saying he doesn’t trust the players and that some of them are not hurt by losing is pretty damning.

The atmosphere on the coach home will be a little strained tonight! And rightly so.

Finally, a manager who gets it and sees it for how it is.

Hope those players who are stealing a living have an uncomfortable ride home.

Shame it's not a longer one.

This is the end result of keeping an incompetent, disinterested manager in a job for two years longer than he should have been. A toxic combination of indifference, inhibition and incompetence that's been allowed to fester for far, far too long.

I've worked on and been called out to working environments like this. It's never the case that all parties involved are 'bad' but there's far too few willing to carry on maintaining standards and far too many ground down and demoralised. Part of the answer is yes, effective management. The other part is move on the genuinely toxic elements.

The media need to step up and stop trying to make matters worse in these situations

Even at the end, they try to throw in about play offs

FK the play offs if by some miracle we got in them, fine, but come on, all the media are doing is putting more and more doubts about PC into people's heads, people who can't see past this season when in reality it is all about next season now.

Also, and I get the part the media plays, but let national media do it's thing and our media suppor the manager, the old 2 up front business, it's fine for fans to quesion it, but no need for the media to shove it down the managers throat, and wallah look, he goes 2 uptop for a bit, shuts the media up and things are the same, so we were probably better of sticking with his 4 2 3 1.

Reading between the lines their he's basically telling us the truth, they are absolutely stealing a living here. If only Lambert had made the hard choices last summer and carted off half of these absolute miserable failures we've been carrying paying for years. Cook has my full support to just root the lot out and send them packing. They must enjoy playing in this dross league, they have spent most their careers there, they had a chance to play for Ipswich, had a chance to prove themselves to a bright new manager and new owners and they can't be bothered. Easy money eh lads?

The lot of you, I hope you read this, PHUCK OFF. You are a bunch of wage claiming, near amateur level, cos-play footballers. Stick to twitter and let the professionals play football. You don't deserve to play for Ipswich Town. Hope you enjoy your bright futures at Chelmsford City, Bury Town and Colchester United (if you are really lucky) as you will not be missed here.

I’m someone who argued for a change of system to try and get us into the playoffs, and I think it was worth a go. But I agree with you now, he might as well go back to the system he actually wants to play, forget the playoffs, and only use players who are either good enough (Downes, KVY) or those with some actual hunger and desire (Dobra and the rest of the kids).

The rest can do one. Some of the performances out there tonight were disgraceful.

Oh, and send back all the remaining loan players. They’ve added nothing.

Thing is Pique, I know some are saying the manager should ignore things, but alot of the time the Media are the ones that get managers the sack. The more you ignore them, you become 'stubborn', yet have you noticed not 1 of the media team have said " Actually we were wrong to keep pressing about moving to a 2 man uptop team" we should keep our nose's out of it.

I think it’s reasonable for them to ask questions about tactics etc - it’s their job to scrutinise, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re pushing a particular agenda.

I agree with you though that some characterisations of managers in some parts of the media can be unfair and unhelpful.

Well said Paul Cook . Now play the U23/U18 gor the rest of the season . Give them some experience . What harm will it do? They won’t do any worse than these seniors . Tell the senior players to sling their hook NOW/ TOMORROW . They’re Finished as Ipswich Town players, every last one of them .

I'd like to see us get as many minutes into the younger lads for the rest of the season before PC can have a massive clear out. Dobra, Lankester, Nydam three of which I think could stay.

Dobra and Nydam definitely have a future under Cook IMO. Both show great desire - actually can see Nydam as a potential screening midfielder alongside Downes in a 4-2-3-1.

Not so sure about Lankester.

I think we may see that. I am sure he has to show due diligence to be promoted though - it would be the dream for GC20 if he does. I fancy my chances with Rachael Ostovich more than that happening though.

Exactly, and so early too. He was getting worse and worse over the 10 minutes building up to it though- you could tell he was one for the book. I am not surprised they gave him a red based on his clumsy performance up until then.
