Ditch the Tractor Boys nickname. on 14:41 - Apr 14 by Herbivore
I've never accepted it as our nickname. We're the blues or super blues, not the tractor boys.
I hated it for years but I don't mind it now. Feel it gives us an identity rather than referring to a colour that 20% of clubs share (guessed obviously).
If you liked my post, please take the time to upvote it. It's very much appreciated.

I still find it a bit cringey and tinpot to be honest. Never have warmed to it.

That's all very well, but THIS IS A FOOTBALL POLL, and needs to be in the appropriate part of the forum.

I love it, but it was already established when I started going to games.
Judging by the reaction to this poll, it would seem the younger, more handsome fans like the Tractor Boys while the older, follicly challenged ones don't. Interesting.

I always thought it was a shot at the big clubs writing us off. Didn't really understand why it stuck.
The other thing like that was when we had that comeback vrs Sheff Utd and shoved that song back in their face. Then we had to endure it for the next decade, as if it was ours.

I remember being at university and reading an article on our us in the ‘Independent’ in which they referred to us as ‘The Horses’. Never heard us call that before or since then.

I always thought that Tractor boys originally referred to us fans not the team but it seems not the case anymore. The Bristol Rovers fans that stood at the Gas holder stand at Eastville were called the Gas. It was just that stand - like the Kop at Anfield. Nowadays, the Gas refers to the fans and the team although they are also called the Pirates - check out their club badge. It's the know-it-alls from other clubs that have confused the nicknames and try to mansplain it to us.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
Can't stand it, as indicated on yesterday's thread. We should be 'Town', which would also indicate we are the best supported club with the Town name. It's the 'Boys' thing I think I hate the most, could just about live with Tractors I suppose.

"The Gas" is actually an abbreviations of "gasheads".
