Agreed. Which is basically the pitch he gave Murdoch.
It also relied on taking the traditional Labour support along for the ride. But it’s a move that could only work over a period and then you lose support when they realize you’re just the same politicians wearing a different colour tie.
If Thatcher’s self-proclaimed greatest achievement was Blair, then Blair’s was giving us Cameron and Clegg who were barely indistinguishable from him in their shallow outlook on politics. | |
