Sounds like a club in financial distress 22:26 - Apr 15 with 7156 viewschrismakin

Not one that's just been taken over

"“I told him we are not in a position to trigger that extension to his contract and because of the situation, we won't be considering him for the remaining games.”

I'm assuming we're not of course, but that's a very random way of announcing that.

Just be honest, " We don't want to trigger the extension"

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

We are not in a position to trigger a contract extension because he hasn't performed well enough to deserve one, frankly.

I think you may have missed the takeover announcement, the one where they have said they only get their money back if they invest and get us to the Premier League.

And Judge is not part of that agenda.

No one in their right mind would trigger an extension at c.£10k per week.

LOL. Judge is unlikely to be on half of that now at best.

More like Cook doesn’t see him as part of his plans and doesn’t want to trigger the extension.

He’ll be one of our highest earners, and Cook will be thinking he can put those wages to better use.

He would have been given a hefty contract when he joined in the Champ.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to 10k than 5k per week.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

You're trying too hard to find hidden meaning in absolutely everything that comes out of the club.

Take a step away and calm down a bit because you're going to do yours and everyone else's nut over the next 4 months if the over-analysis continues at it's current rate.

Perhaps people can appreciate now just how “ active” these players have been since Cook came in snd the take over announced, to NOT performing for the new owners. Why? Because to a manager they KNOW they’re not part of this rebuild . So why would they bother themselves to bust a gut to gain promotion.

Cook could do little worse than dump the bloody lot of them for the rest of the season snd go with the kids - the end result this season will be the same . What’s to lose ?

Even if it was in the Championship it wouldn't be in League One, would have been cut significantly.

I thought the comment was phrased slightly awkwardly as well, for what it's worth.

It's Cook being Cook. A decent bloke and not harming Judge's chances of finding a new club.

He'll be one of our (and the league's) higher earners though. Maybe £5-6k per week then.

I think maybe we are getting in the habit of forensically dissecting comments from the club.

We all know why the club won't allow the clause to be triggered. He's not been good enough.

Whilst you're here.

I tried to ask last week who would have made the decisions regarding the letting go of the peripherals/U23 players?

Folami etc.

Doubtful to be a Cook decision given he might barely know them so if it's a club choice, who would the 'club' be here as the new guys wouldn't have a clue yet either.

I would guess it's Cook in conjunction with Bryan Klug, Kieron and Lee. They'll know where they're at in their development and whether they have a chance of being involved in the first team next season.

Well he means this doesn't he: "not in a position to trigger that extension to his contract", but yes I agree.

Cook's just being as civil as possible. What's he supposed to say?

We’re in a position to extend his deal if we wanted, Cook will have a budget to spend but he’s clearly spent the last few weeks taking a look and feels it would be c£250k a year better spent elsewhere, which is fair enough.

Good to think they are liaising behind the scenes and making joint decisions.
