Hi. So based on some nice supportive messages I will continue to post. Albeit. I will limit to one new thread per day ( Well I'll try)
On PC this week. As you all know I'm an avid PC fan. I also have always believed our squad are to nice and the way the management have been are to nice.
I am slightly concerned at Pauls strong stance this week. I've once commented that he should call out the team which he did on tuesday.. however to continue this days after I do feel is quite unique and not sure it's a positive move.
We know he will be ripping this squad apart that's a given. But when looking to being in his own squad.. it wont just he players he has managed before. What will potential new players think of this week.. is it a positive to be this honest. Is it not? I personally am on the fence with it.
As I say I was behind calling them out after a game.. it's just the way it's been carried on Into today's conference.

all town fans thought we would see some more effort / desire etc after the new manager and then the takeover but no, nothing
So PC has decided to call them out and make it crystal clear what he expects
So if any player was under any elusions about what he thinks / wants they are now fully aware
If that does not get them to play then nothing will
I support him 100% The players have been way too comfortable since MM left |
I have a feeling that certain players over the last few years are under the impression that just turning up warrants their wage while putting in as little effort as possible, I don't think they ever thought a manager would dare give them this sort of public rollicking. Keep posting what you like, it's a public forum and if people don't like it they can 'ignore' you.
Most of the time you're posts spark a good debate, and its also nice to see someone as enthusiastic about the club as yourself!
P.S I think his comments today are just about getting a reaction out of the players, he's tried everything else and sometimes tough love is best! |  | | |

... I’m also in general a fan of Paul Cook, his honesty, and enthusiasm.
I developed an issue in a recent third wave of subs, where players looked visibly confused as to what system and shape we were actually playing!!
BUT, my bigger issue aligns with the point you raise... Cook quite rightly has called out the effort and quality of players over many weeks, however, he is becoming relentless in his narrative of a failing group of players. And has continued into the Charlton pre match, relentlessly.
Now this is either the most radical management motivational approach, or a disaster car crash! I fear the latter.

I find it refreshing. Too many managers have been making excuses for themselves and what’s going on at the club and have tried to trick us into the fact that the club is actually progressing in some capacity.
Cook has thrown the whole stinking operation under the bus. In doing so he is taking responsibility for this summer’s turnaround. He’s telling us things will be better. If not, it’s on him.

I found the criticism quite uncomfortable and that was as someone who disagreed with the point you were trying to make.
Your personality type is to over-analyse, so sometimes you will make an interesting point that others aren't thinking of and sometimes you will read too much into things, and be wide of the mark. If people can't accept that, then they should be limiting their interactions with you. It's not like you are being mean, spiteful or validating questionable characters.
The only thing I don't get is why you called yourself chrismakin and not fabianwilnis! Inexcusable! :) |  |

You're overegging it. Cook has been singularly unimpressive in almost every respect since he arrived. Granted his situation is awkward - but his reward for failure is a fat pay-off and could come as soon as six weeks into the new season, if not before.
IF Town have a recruitment budget for next season, then any amount of greedy opportunists will turn up. Most clubs in this division are utterly skint and cant afford what they have got - so there will be an orderly queue of chancers and opportunists looking for gainful employment. They too will be here for the money - and be realistic enough to know that Cook could be gone within a few weeks - but their fat contracts will have to be honoured. In that respect nothing has changed under the new owners - and management. | |
