Lack of fitness is a big part of the problem 16:56 - Apr 17 with 4702 views | whymark4lazio0 | Cook has mentioned it. Gary Roberts has mentioned it. It's probably why we can only play well for half a match (apparently we were excellent for the first 20 minutes today). It's probably why we have had so many injuries. What I find difficult to understand is how everybody at the club (owner, directors, manager, coaches AND players) allowed lack of fitness to become a problem. Surely the ability to run hard for a whole match 2 or 3 times per week should be a fundamental, an absolute basic. It does explain a lot, if a player feels he cannot last a whole match it will impact his confidence and lead him to hide and to take 'breathers'. A team of players that are at peak fitness and have a little talent will always be confident of giving any team a match. Now that Cook and Roberts have identified fitness as an issue, I'm not sure what can be done this season but it does mean the whole squad should be on notice to keep themselves fit over the summer break and to expect the most demanding pre-season training they've ever experienced.

Lack of fitness is a big part of the problem on 09:47 - Apr 18 with 822 views | Pinewoodblue | So called lack of fitness isn’t the root problem but one of the symptoms. The real problem is we have a squad of of players which, almost without exception, are individually and collectively locked into a comfort zone. You can see it in the way they have resisted and easily fallback into a style of play PC doesn’t want them to play. Ditto in the inane comments senior players make when facing any media. Hurst tried to knock them out of it but they rebelled against that. No way will they win any mental battle against PC.

It's strange, I watch our team and all I see is fear, anxiety and a lack of composure. Players passing backwards and not showing for the ball because they don't want the responsibility, players snatching at their final ball, players misplacing 10-yard passes because they can't keep their concentration. Comfort? We could do with some.

Perhaps I should have said “ a false comfort zone” They don’t take risks and stick to the perceived safe option. Would love to see ITFC react as Oxford did last night. Went behind early, conceded a second in 72 minute you would think it was game over. Oxford scored in 74th and 84th minutes and added the match winner in injury time. Twenty years since we had a team that could do that on a regular basis.

That worked well, didn't it? Apparently the players all had huge blisters after wearing army boots for a few days.

There's absolutely no way our current team would come back from 2-0 down on 72 to grab even a draw, let alone win.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Lack of fitness is a big part of the problem on 17:06 - Apr 17 by gtsb1966 | At 2am on a Sunday morning I would stagger out of the local nightclub ( yes you youngsters, clubs really did close then) and go and get the worst boiled burger you could have. Home and in bed by 3am ( unless I got lucky).... so home and in bed by 3am and up at 8.30am to play Sunday football. Smoked 20 fags that night and a couple before the game and at half time yet still played ok nearly every week. Of course it was a different standard but we're talking about different standards of footballers here too. The fitness thing at our club is a shocking revelation of how poorly this club has been run.
