Read this! You would have had Sir Bobby out after ten games with someone else’s players

There are two things.

One he should be judged on what he does with the squad he assembles in the summer and having worked with them preseason.

Two, it is disappointing he has been unable to get better out of what we have got than they were doing (indeed, the results have got worse). It would be wrong to say that causes no concern at all.

This. I think the reason it's so disappointing is because we all thought Cook was the right man. In reality we have become worse.

Yes. We’d have also had Hurst and Lambert out sooner. It’s not always wrong.

There are always exceptions, Sir Bobby is in a league of one.

In his first 12 games Sir Bobby’s record was won 5 drew 5 lost 2. Somewhat better than Cook.

That was the 1960's.

This is 2021.

the argument has no relevance. Are you saying we should have kept Hurst by that account? Keane and Jewell weren't here very long either.

Hanging onto rubbish managers has been one of our biggest failings as a club. Sacking good ones has also been an issue in Burley, Royle, Magic and Mick.

No but his first 12 games were in the top flight and he had an immediate impact.

So we had some top flight players to make the most of then, not a bunch of average league 1 players

Robson's first 10 games included 5 wins in the top division - vs Man U, Arsenal, Man City and West Ham which lifted us away from the relegation zone.

If you are going to make such a facile comparison at least try and give it a point

It is a concern that he came in with the club having won a couple of games and in with a decent shout of the play-offs. It appears as if this team was able to perform for Gill. However, under Cook they have been unable to show the same ability or desire. Now that could be because they already knew they were not wanted but Cook should have been able to motivate them to play for their future and prove they were worth a contract. The fact he couldn't do that raises a concern.

However, that is mitigated a little by the fact he will clearly get his own players in.

You cant judge the man yet....consider the circumstances.

Squad damaged by years of failure, many under 3 different managers.

Huge no of players out of contract, many already one foot out of the club since Xmas at least in part due to the above, compounded by the take over almost guaranteeing most are out come summer.

Collective losing mentality developed over years of decline

Players think they are better than are.

Disharmony at the club since at least photogate in pre season

Only striker who can score constantly injured.

All of the back of 14 years of decline under Evans.

He's been nice, they didnt respond, he tried kick up the arse, they didnt respond, he's tried players, formations, they haven't responded, Just like they haven't with the 2 previous managers.

He'd be lambasted for playing the u 23s when We could still make the play offs and from our 1st team squad whst combination of players do you look at that you would happily send out? No Norwood he's injured so 1 to 11 what team do you think would get a result?

Clamour for Dobra but he hasn't taken his chances other than that weak case and Kenlock who had 2.5 good games I see no one.

Cook has identified and said what we have all been saying for 3 years so we all seem to agree with him. This squad is not good enough.

Now if come Xmas we are not in contention fine question him but without him signing a player with all of the above to deal with just isn't fair.

Hurst had an entire summer, more money out of Evans since Keane and signed 6 players plus loans. Lamber had stayed in L1 with one of the biggest budgets in the league and Cook has inherited what that was all wasted on.

I'm not saying he's the answer I'm just saying let the man get his team together, not this lot who have failed for years

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again

Wrong!

A large number of fans on here stated the obvious point that the players just are not good enough! Simple as that.

Yes he has said some home truths and probably in the short term made matters worse but ultimately based on his record I expect him to get things right next season

Not really. Alex Ferguson at Man U. George Burley. Take a look at his record in 1994/5 season. Would you have had those two out? They could at least could get players in and they were still dismal starts so I presume that’s a yes.

'Collective losing mentality developed over years of decline'

This mob had been clapped by the happy clappers for the relegation and subsequently labelled as one the best squads in League One.

They have had it so easy at Ipswich. No pressure, failure has always been accepted as it's always been a managers fault for many.

Cook isn't a magician. He can't turn this lazy mob into the battlers therefore he needs his own players.

Quite, I just don't think anyone can get a tune out of this lot. We've been awul all season... even early doors we were only edging the results we got.

We've had 2 goodish games in 18 months.... almsot everything else has been as a result of the utter dross of this league.

Let him build his team 1st

This mob has had so easy throughout the years. Not demanding owner, easy pay day etc etc.

Now we have new people in both owners and the manager. The culture is about to change and they don't like it.

They don't play for Cook, they don't play for the club, they don't give a s**t about the fans. Many of them know they won't be here next season.

There is a reason why these vvankers are getting embarrassed by Northampton, Wimbledon and not bothered to perform against Rochdale and Wigan.

All of that down to one person. That's Evans. He allowed for this culture to set in. Yet we have had number of people who were 'thanking' him on 7th of April......Thanking for this absolute disaster he caused.

' Things hit the nadir in the 1970/71 season, a defeat to Leeds United causing friction between Robson and two of his most senior players, Billy Baxter and Tommy Carroll, allegedly resulting in the manager and players coming to blows. '

And people are getting upset because Cook ignored the players coming of the pitch!

Or the next season after that. Robson getting heavily knocked for the poor start compounded by 0-7 defeat to Sheffield Utd.

Today Cook is getting barracked by some but they forget that prior to the end of this season he has to work with the worst squad in our history.

I wasn’t alive in 1969, but I’d dearly love to see any of the current squad match up to the averageness of players from that period like Baxter, Morris, Mills, Viljoen and Crawford.

The posters that want Cook out are the same posters that think there is nothing wrong with the club, our academy is wonderful, our youth are future Premier League players and think that Evans did a wonderful job.

Correct. If Cook matched Sir Bobby’s first 12 results we’d be in 4th place in the league now. SBRs poor runs of results came later in his tenure not at the start.
