Players and Cook. 15:25 - Apr 23 with 619 viewsOriginalMarkyP

Let's be honest, no one is coming out of this with any credit.

It's an unholy ugly mess, the players have been rubbish and Cook has looked as all over shop as his vaccilating vocal chords.

I actually think he's really likeable. Funny, nice bloke. Just not sure he's working out for us.

Well the owners have made it very clear they're going to back him for a squad overhaul next season, so no point constantly making the same points over and over.

And yet having 5000 threads on how the players are tosspots is absolutely fine (not aimed directly at you but...)

He was so enthusiastically backed a the appointment here and was touted for years that some are refusing to see the results and are holding onto a fantasy turnaround next season.

This group of players have been tosspots for 3 years. I think they're somewhat more deserving of the criticism than Cook, who walked into a fairly unprecedented situation just 6 weeks ago and has struggled to do anything about it.

If we do not go up next season with everything that is being thrown at it it will be a failure far greater than the failure this season, failure last season and failure to make a serious attempt at staying in The Championship the season before.

Who knows what will happen next season, but we look set to have a massive overhaul of a horrendously underperforming playing squad, who have been fairly useless under 3 different managers now. The common denominator is not Paul Cook, who has an excellent track record at his last 3 clubs. Saying we should bin him because he can't motivate a squad of players from whom losing has become a habit and who all know they will shortly be out of a job anyway, is fairly ridiculous.

Well of course, and if that happens then he will most likely be lauded out.

But until then it should be positive thinking only.

Incredible.

Get Pep to turn up when Cook did and see what would happen. Nothing, that’s what.
