how after two years in this division and looking like an average to shiiite side some people on here are sticking up for the players who have failed big time under two different managers just because Cook has said a few harsh but true words. Do you all want Ipswich Town FC to fail again and again because that is what it reads like. Before Cook arrived everyone thought they were shiiite and it was ok to say it because Lambert didn't, but now Cook has said the truth some people are getting all uptight. Lambert and the sport science team badly mismanaged the squad. For what we pay on wages, they should have been capable of more - however, our sports science team is a horror show, and match fitness has long been shot.
When Chambers is one of the most match fit players at age 35, you begin to see a problem in the management of Lambert's team.
The best evidence of our Sport Science being a joke is the repeated injuries of David McGoldrick - yet at Sheffield United he managed much more game time per season, and in the best league in the world. | |

People have told you over and over again on other threads, Lambert had two and a half years. Cook hasn't had a transfer window yet. It was Lamberts squad and he clearly thought they were good enough. I thought we had a good squad for this league but clearly i was wrong too. | | | |

I see it as advice and toughening them up - if those players were to go to many other clubs and performed like this, they'll be selling themselves short - and possibly their whole careers if they're young. | |

Probably because they have been lulled into a false sense of worth by Lambert. How many times did Lambert publicly state he couldn't ask any more from the players? If he had that mentality behind closed doors - I bet the players got quite comfortable with the non-consequences of losing. | |

We have an unbalanced squad with decent players but holes which desperately need to be filled, and players who have come back from injury clearly not at the same level as they were before they picked up their knocks. We’re a dated antiquated club from another era which desperately needs to be dragged into the 21st century but the players, as a whole, are a symptom rather than the cause. | |

They are both. Granted, what you say about Evans is true. However, not a single one of the players has done anything for 3 years that anyone can be particularly proud about. They shouldn't be smiling at the end of games, and they have accepted mediocrity in their own fitness, performance and position of mentors.
Evans may have started the rot, but they have as much a part a play to get past it as any manager does - and if they don't, then it is best for all parties they try to find themselves elsewhere. We can't be a soft touch any more - if we find better, bin 'em - don't invest any more time into trying to improve them if they are not going to show they can improve in 3 years. We have a broken and defeated squad of players who have repeatedly failed the club over the last 3 years, most of whom know they are soon to out of a job.
