how after two years in this division and looking like an average to shiiite side some people on here are sticking up for the players who have failed big time under two different managers just because Cook has said a few harsh but true words. Do you all want Ipswich Town FC to fail again and again because that is what it reads like. Before Cook arrived everyone thought they were shiiite and it was ok to say it because Lambert didn't, but now Cook has said the truth some people are getting all uptight. Be critical all you like, but also be open minded to the fact that Cook has inherited a broken squad. Right now this very much is a case of trying to wipe one's arse with a hedgehog because the shops aren't open to sell bog roll.

People have told you over and over again on other threads, Lambert had two and a half years. Cook hasn't had a transfer window yet. It was Lamberts squad and he clearly thought they were good enough. I thought we had a good squad for this league but clearly i was wrong too. |

They are both. Granted, what you say about Evans is true. However, not a single one of the players has done anything for 3 years that anyone can be particularly proud about. They shouldn't be smiling at the end of games, and they have accepted mediocrity in their own fitness, performance and position of mentors.
Evans may have started the rot, but they have as much a part a play to get past it as any manager does - and if they don't, then it is best for all parties they try to find themselves elsewhere. We can't be a soft touch any more - if we find better, bin 'em - don't invest any more time into trying to improve them if they are not going to show they can improve in 3 years. I thought a new manager would bounce the squad too - and I am incredibly frustrated to see that not happening. Lambert may have been a better manager than he showed us here, Cook almost certainly is a better manager than he's showed us here - really, the players are the only constant for the last 3 years - if the constant is broken, so too will be the variables. No, I feel they’ve been let down by Evans’ laissez faire attitude in terms of recruitment and fitness. We have an unbalanced squad with decent players but holes which desperately need to be filled, and players who have come back from injury clearly not at the same level as they were before they picked up their knocks. We’re a dated antiquated club from another era which desperately needs to be dragged into the 21st century but the players, as a whole, are a symptom rather than the cause. |

That is the footballers "lot," it is part of their chosen career. Hundreds of footballers deal with this every summer, it's part of the deal. They shouldn't be downing tools they should be thinking of their futures and gaining employment elsewhere, i.e. putting themselves in the shop window, not behaving like spoilt brats.

I think the issue is most of our squad is in that position this time around and those who aren’t are, quite frankly, just as much at risk. Normally turnover isn’t known to be this excessive at a club and those who feel secure can pull those who are not through the malaise. | |
