Im trying desperately hard to understand 15:56 - Apr 23 with 3831 viewsgtsb1966

how after two years in this division and looking like an average to shiiite side some people on here are sticking up for the players who have failed big time under two different managers just because Cook has said a few harsh but true words. Do you all want Ipswich Town FC to fail again and again because that is what it reads like. Before Cook arrived everyone thought they were shiiite and it was ok to say it because Lambert didn't, but now Cook has said the truth some people are getting all uptight. Our support is an embarrassment sometimes.

The majority of these parasites will be out though. If they don't want to be part of our success then they might find it easy at Colchester, Stevenage, Bradford etc etc.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we play some at this level or above (if sports when we hopefully go up) and they are in the form of their lives. They need change as much as anyone - the squad is poisoning each other and needs to be pulled apart. That’s why the revamp is needed.

Well last summer some TWTD 'experts' had been telling us that we should have signed Tommy Smith at all costs as according to them he pissed all over Nsiala/Wilson with the level of his ability.

I wouldn't be surprised if majority of those who will have left us come May are going to end up like him.

Most of the first team players (Donacien, Emmanuel, Keane, Rowe, Graham, Roberts) we've released of late look better now than those that remained. None of them have pulled up any trees, but they've not turned out to be the lazy wasters they were painted as here.

I'm totally down for the revamp and, actually, don't generally think Cook's gone too overboard on his criticisms of the players.

It's the enthusiasm of some on here for the five-minute hate that I'm not into.

Cook’s fuelling the five-minute hate though; saying players don’t care is just about the worse thing to say to a fanbase. It’s the automatic response to a defeat as it is so for the manager to actually come out and say it is naturally going to feed the frenzy.

Worse thing?

What is he going to do then? To be nice to them?

Being nice about it has hardly go us anywhere either. Yes, they are people and their mental health is as important as anyone else's - but this could be the tough love some of the youngsters need to get their arses in gear this summer and kick on with their careers - with or without us.

I haven't seen many posts calling players lazy. Occasionally you see one about Dozzell, but that's normal when an individual is being moaned about.

But can't say i've seen many people calling the overall squad lazy wasters

Nothing’s getting us anywhere, that’s why we need the summer. Slaughter them behind the scenes, be cagey with the press - dare I say the Mick McCarthy way!

If someone pissed Mick off you knew about it in the press. IIRC he straight up remarked Leon Best would never play for town again while he was still on the books.

Sorry but no, these are incredibly high paid players in a league that they ( according to reports) are miles ahead of in terms of salary, why should they be given a free pass and look like the poor squad who couldn't be managed properly.

IMO PC has acted correctly, the truths are and it doesn't matter if people like it or not, but we have a squad who don't care if we lose or win, aren't putting in 100% effort when they go to play the sport they are well paid to play etc etc and as some supporters are very quick to direct their misgivings at managers, it's time players are shown for how they really are.

For us all, 4 games to go and we can have a summer of fun, BBQ's, exciting transfer stories, rumours, new staff coming in and a pre season to look forward to

an insult never the less granted, but then, alot of people on this forum pay their hard earned money to support players who only have to wake up in the morning to earn what that fans makes in a month. so yeah it's fair game if the players are happy to chill and take their money win or lose, that they receive some backlash. ( Oh and by backlash I mean on here, not face to face or being sent private messages etc. sorry i made that sound horrid)

The money means nothing, the richest of people can feel the lowest of the low and the poorest of people can feel happy and content. Just saying they’re paid their dues so should suck up being called every name under the sun by supporters because the manager has called open season on them isn’t necessary right IMO. As I said, perhaps that’s what I’m most uncomfortable about what’s happening at the moment.

But my points with you is about PC and what he said and if he should have said it, and imo yes he should

regarding insults... I mentioned it the other day about effects of social media etc, but that's unfortunately the world we live in, doesn't make it right in anyway but that's the world. The players have the easiest of ways to reduce the hate they get... care about losing and put all your efforts into the job you do. They do that, people won't be negative.

You're right, parasite is actually far more dehumanising and hateful than lazy is.

I also pay my hard earned money to the club, I don't think that entitles me to regard other human beings "parasites" simply because they don't play football as well as I'd like them to.

This is just a discussion on a forum. Like a discussion in a pub, on a train, in a bar in the ground, in a car, that's all. Players are not reading it. Would be different if comments were being made to individual players twitter or whatever but they're not as far as we know. Paul Cook's generalised media comments are not offensive to individual players Doubt whether many players read them. Cook is just setting out his standards for the upcoming revolution.

Unfortunately it's an online platform where people can air their views

You seem to continue to ignore what has actually been said about the players and even done it again here

"simply because they don't play football as well as I'd like them to."

It's not about a player unfortunately not cutting it at this level, we're talking about ' not caring about results, not putting in everything they have. And the fact there's more that we don't even know about..

From the outside none of us have any genuine reason to believe the players aren't putting in everything they have, not even on the basis of Cook's comments. Lots of us choose to believe it's about that because it justifies anger.

We could choose to believe they just don't have the ability and it isn't anyone's fault.

How would we even know if they have the ability or not? How would we even know if they have the bodies to achieve the level of fitness needed? How would we even know if the coaching is to the required level? Multiple factors, none of which we can know so cannot be ruled out. Including are they putting in 100%. We cannot know anything really!

Does it make it any better whether the players are reading it or not? And I’m sure some of the bile is posted to them directly on social media - and the response tends to be “well get off social media then”.

Ironically I think I’d be more accepting of Cook’s comments if he had to deal with these players over the summer and beyond and he was desperately trying to get something going. As it is, the majority will be leaving and we know that to be the case - maybe he is trying to kick some into gear and we can only hope it works but it just puts me, personally, on edge. The season is over; start planning for the summer. But perhaps I’m just a soft touch!

You realise we are as bad as we were under Lambert don't you? We fluked around 50% of our wins.
Go one nil up and then throw everyone behind the ball, thats us.

Who said we had the best squad in the league? Lambert? Evans? A few deluded posters on here?

Relegated from the Championship without a whimper, to the best squad in league one? With very little player churn? There was quite a few of us not buying the spin about these players.

I completely agree with the first part of your last paragraph, we were woeful in the Championship and we never strengthened, so we were never a great side in League 1 despite our stature.

That said, have to disagree that it was just 'a few deluded posters' saying we had one of the best squads. There were plenty saying that anyone could get these players to win automatic promotion, as long as their last name wasn't Lambert.

It is good that most people have caught on to the obvious that these players are overpaid dross who don't give a monkeys nearly 3 years after our experiment with Hurst should have given them an inkling.

There were a lot of people who's blind rage at Lambert continuing in his post led them to see better in the players than what was actually there and now after several years of slow and painful decline, our fans are at each others' throats about who was right and who was wrong.

I'm thoroughly disappointed that Cook hasn't come in and had an immediate impact because, let's be honest, that's what we all wanted. However, whilst I am a bit more nervous for next season than I would like to be given all the positive things that have happened in the last month or so, I am fully behind Cook and hope he gets a fair shake at binning off the losers and cultivating a squad he trusts to win games.
