Boyos what do you think about all of us doing the same on here? Just for the weekend.
Apologies in advance Phil Gav and Mark if it puts a dent in the hobnob fund.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Town still intend to provide match reports etc on their website, or doesn't that count?

Personally think we should continue to post. Let's just agree to be nice to each other, all it really takes is to have the willpower to ignore comments we don't agree with.

Trolls will soon give up if you ignore them.

I'm off work tomorrow so doubt I'll bother coming on here. Does that count?

As a one off gesture I think it's a worthwhile campaign, I doubt it will change anything much but might have an impact at the margins on some people's behaviour.

TWTD is a place for biscuit chat, not racial hatred, so I think we're all good.

It must be the politest* football messageboard going :)

That's a bit naive, if you don't mind me saying. There are some regular posters with some extremely questionable attitudes, shall we say.

Yes there's a few who proudly hint about their beliefs but no one comes right and says it. Twitter is being boycotted because of their lack of action. TWTD doesn't have that problem. It would be a meaningless gesture that does no good and harms the site.

Nope. The blackout is, I’m sure, we’ll intentioned but will achieve very little. So long as people can post anonymously on twitter etc then you’ll always have scumbags doing their thing.

I think you'll find there are people on here, and there are one or two, who scrutinise every word of certain posters and try to twist it to suit their own agenda. You've only got to look at some of the political posts to see that.

In fairness to Twitter their mechanisms do seem to work in that I’ve engaged with racist accounts, got them to be explicit with their racism, then reported them and they’ve been banned pretty swiftly. But it relies on people reporting these accounts and they can just spring up again. They’re like scam call centres, shut one down and they’ll pop up somewhere else and I’m not sure how you stop it.

I would be in favour of some kind of hypothetical internet license where you have to score above a certain limit on an IQ test before being allowed any internet enabled devices. We should use the same system for voting.

Trouble is, there's a fair few that done't even need mild folding, let alone twisting to pick up on their Very Real Concerns.

I guess it helps raise awareness of the issues and helps remind a some of use that words are cheap and that what’s said behind the anonymity of a screen can cause people unintended distress. So many be some of us will think a little more carefully for a while.

But in the big picture I don’t think it will achieve a thing.
