11 years ago.... on 21:11 - Apr 30 with 809 views | Swansea_Blue | Our Sliding Doors moment that was. Swansea nipped in, persuaded Rodgers they wanted him as a number 1 not an assistant, and the rest is history. Everyone said he only did well at Celtic because it was Scotland, but he broke all their records and then look what happened when he left. And again, look at how he's turned around Leicester. He was awesome down here at Swansea. On a par with Robson imo for what he achieved with a more limited squad. I've rarely seen a manger that connect with the fans as well; he'd spend his programme notes explaining what fans were seeing on the pitch, why, and what they were trying to achieve. The players used to say that he built them up to feel 10 miles high so that they'd run through brick walls for him (I wonder if slagging off our own players in public results in the same outcome ). He's a superb man manger and student of the game. He puts so much time into preparation and it obviously pays off. The only caveat with all of this is that Swansea were set up to succeed when he walked in. They had the structure, the style of play and the players and just needed a bump to the next level. We didn't have those, so he may well have had little or no impact on us.

Plus, he would have been playing second fiddle to Famous Roy. He'd have been forever known as his Culverhouse.

Yeah, that wouldn't have worked out well. Rogers wants to be in control. Roy needs to be seen as the man in control. Not a good combination.
