We got the best out of him as a player. I think those 9 games were the best of his career.

I hope he's coming in as an attacking coach and not a fitness one.

Didn't he play against us first game of the following season and we won 3-0 or something? I seem to remember Gary Roberts scoring some kind of wonder goal but I could have my games mixed up. I remember being in the lower north with mates just tearing him a new one for the entire game.

From what I gather, you would be correct on your final sentence.

He does know about scoring goals, not so much about keepting fit.

This is no comment on his abilities as a coach, but I was astounded to see that he mustered just 40 career league goals.......as a striker across a long career in many leagues.

22 between in the 12 seasons between 2001-2013. Fox in the box indeed.

oh....and an England Cap.

He played for Sheff Wed, we got a penalty in the first minute, scored it and went on that run where we didn’t lose at home but couldn’t win away.

the first away win was also Sheff Wed if memory serves, in January, after the ME takeover when Magilton was loading up with midfielders, Alan Quinn scored I think

Much like some of our best players, when they move to bigger clubs they just don't deliver. Just look at Richard Wright, amazing for Ipswich, had a storming season in 2000-01, goes to Arsenal, does nothing, goes to Everton, does nothing, and that's that. Kiwomya at Arsenal, Dozzell at Spurs, and so on. Sure they get a pay boost for a little while but long term they often just rot. Had Jeffers stuck with Everton he'd have had a good career.

No sure Dozzell at Spurs is fair. Was a regular for them in his first season, and then had appearances cut short by injury.

Ask any Spurs fan about him and the reviews are not positive. They viewed him as an unskilled donkey they didn't understand why they signed. They couldn't believe he was the player we said he was! A bit like Leeds supporters with Jermaine Wright.

Jermaine Wright, what a player he was. Not as good as his cousin, but Jermaine has to go down as one of the most underrated Town players in the past 20 years.

Bit harsh on Wrighty too. Was told Seaman was retiring and that he was comming in to replace him. Then Seaman changed his mind and signed a new contract

4-1. Roberts scored a volley. It was the time of the bad floods in Yorkshire and before Wednesday got their consolation most of the North Stand was singing “4-0 and your house is wet...”.

Wasn’t that game Pablos first after returning too?

We beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1, Pablo scored on his return to the club:

Town 4-1 Sheffield Wed 11th Aug 2007 18:22
Town romped to a 4-1 opening day victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road. The Blues went ahead through a Alan Lee's early penalty, then Gary Roberts lashed home a stunning volley, before Lee made it three at the break. Couñago added the fourth prior to Leon Clarke pulled one back. 0

I don't remember Roberts' goal being that spectacular but Phil agrees with you, was it a volley from an angle? Decent but not quite that level in my recollection.
