The only time Gainsborough or Chantry or similar areas are usually mentioned on here is when its looked down upon as somewhere undesirable to live.

I'm not going to offer any analysis here, but Liz Harsant, who has won the seat, has been a well known and very active councillor in that area for many years, so would assume that will have helped her win a lot of votes.

I say that as a Labour voter.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it has turned blue in both SCC and IBC elections. Your general point is correct though, with only a few hundred votes being cast, a local personality can make all the difference.
