.....have had someone bugging us for a job, labourer, only young with 3 young kids, desperate, will do anything, get anywhere, bla bla bla.
Lives in Woodbridge, and doesn't have his own transport which is a massive pain.....said he can get anywhere, train bus etc.
For job we could help him with this week, with view to long term it was worked out easier to get the train in, £7 a day return from Woodbridge to Westerfield.....£27 for a week pass.....had been asking for a sub so tried to help out and transferred him the money for a ticket......
Was he there this morning? Can we get hold of him now? Of course not.
£27 is quite a cheap way to find out a potential employee is not going to be able to be relied upon - but pestering for a job for months, back and forth all weekend to then take that money and run.....a lucky escape I guess. |  |

Altho I know someone to whom a remarkably large number of calamities used to happen, usually involving money for rent and bills getting lost. As it turned out, mainly at Ladbrokes.
Thankfully, he doesn't try that any more. It was fairly transparent even at the time. |  |
