Donacien is the new Jaime Peters 19:17 - May 10 with 998 viewsMB26

I have to admit I'm a little surprised to see Janoi Donacien have his option taken up. On his day, he can be a solid defender I won't deny that but his attacking output is practically not existent. He simply doesn't fit the mould of a modern day full back which PC desired and we lack without KVY. This move immediately springs Jaime Peters into my mind, a player like Donacien, who always seems to a deemed a better player when they aren't in the team but when actually playing doesn't cut it.

Very similar career path too with multiple loans during his spell with the club without ever truly nailing down a starting place.

I think everyone assumes that. Downes will likely be sold as well. I don't understand why people think on day 1 of close season that we're already there with these things.

Football League First Division / Premier League Champions (1): 1961—62 - Runners-up (2): 1980—81, 1981—82 Football League Second Division / EFL Championship Champions (3): 1960—61, 1967—68, 1991—92 - Play-off winners (1): 1999—2000 Football League Third Division / EFL League One Champions (2): 1953—54, 1956—57 - Southern League Champions (1): 1936—37 FA Cup Winners (1): 1977—78 - Texaco Cup Winners (1): 1972—73 UEFA Cup / UEFA Europa League Winners (1): 1980—81

Though through triggering their contract extension they’ll presumably be on the same wages as this year, meaning that they’ll probably only take a move to somewhere offering comparable or better wages.

With just a year left on their Town deals, you would think both players would want to secure longer term contracts.

Lambert - sorry to mention his name - said Donancian was a central defender - but wouldn't play him there. So perhaps Cook sees him as a replacement for Wilson.

If so, we then have Toto, Woolfenden & Donacien so only room for one more max, though Donacien can provide cover for KVY, who's bound to be injured for most of the season.

Yeah it’s a strange one, you have to think we will be looking to sell.
While a reasonable defender at this level, he doesn’t fit Cook’s style and given KVYs injury record, we could be relying on him for 75% of a season.
