What will Scott Barron exactly do? 13:17 - May 11 with 894 viewsMattinLondon

Cook by the sounds of it knows the sort of player he wants and has identified them.

Ashton will be tasked with negotiating their contracts etc?

Will Scott Barron be like a scout who will identify players who the management may not be aware of?

Pretty much.

His job will be to identify players who may not be on many clubs target lists. The likes of Mings for example.

It will also be used to find players who may not have a long term place at town but could have a quick resale value.

Potentially u18s too. Who could be sold on without making it to first team level but selling based on performance data whilst with the u18s.

We have a lot of youngsters in the same positon who end up getting released for 0. His and Ashtons Job will be to work together to find the ones we can sell even for small values.

Great example is scum finding Buendia.
Could do with finding someone with similar attributes.

There are work permit issues however it's not just down to wages on offer to be able to get players from abroad so it shouldn't hurt us as much being league 1.

The selling club is key and their reputation. But also finding youngsters who have represented their country would be the best targets.

Like a French based Baggott for example.

Cook will know the more obvious targets, Barron will be looking to identify less obvious candidates.

I suspect he will also be looking to establish some kind of criteria which will help analyse and validate any potential signings that PC identifies.

I think thats but also he will be the face that sells the club to players.

His agency isn't so much about being agents in the "I can get you an extra 20k a week if you move to Swansea son" but more of a helping players build a brand for themselves so I think we might see a lot of this what else comming to Ipswich can do for you, this is what we do to help and support you etc.
