true, still a big turnover in 3 years; was more surprised at the lambert/hurst comparison. after criticising the reliance on loanees so heavily, lambert ended up with half of his 20 signings as loanees...

apart from bishop and kenlock, none of those had significant playing time while mick was here. 4 of them didn't even make their debuts under him. i think they're more klug/nash's legacy

Ndaba, Woolfie, Lankester and Dobra were nowhere near anything under Mick - so can't really be his legacy. The latter 2 hadn't even played for the U23s by the time he left

I think Lambert ran out of ideas and thought the loans gave him a better chance of finding a better quality of player. He was probably also hampered by the conditions he was working under, but he still failed miserably to find promising talent on the cheap (Mick did much better in that regard).

mcarthy's legacy on 11:10 - May 12 with 1859 views | catch74 | Didn’t Mick and the players liken him to a young Murphy? Perhaps he’s good in training, Lambert giving him a free hit as his main gripe has been lack of service to the striker. He’s surely got to go out on loan and play regularly, thought he started the season well.

Think Lamberts transfer dealings are more a matter for his legacy rather than Micks. Micks legacy should be turning a L1 bound team into a playoff team. A good championship manager.

Wolfenden goes into his most important season as a town player next season With Baggott waiting in the wings, Wolfy needs to step up. I can't see Wolfenden being the senior CB next season - I still expect it to be Dunkley. So that 2nd CB space will be there for the taking.

Yes, 4 points closer to the playoffs than we were to relegation but I suppose that 19 points above relegation was a bit close.

our form after the first 4 games to mick's exit was poor, if he'd stayed on with the inevitable departures of didzy & waghorn then league 1 was where we'd have ended up. he stayed a season too long

Oh good, the first four games don't count theory. If you discount his last four losses he won three and drew two of his last five games and only lost one of his last ten.

Was it though? Our form tailed off quite badly after Christmas but we were still in with a sniff of the top 6 up to a few weeks before McCarthy left. There were some good performances along the way as well. The idea that he left us destined for League 1 is just nonsense really. Hurst and Lambert are responsible for where this club is now, not Mick.

last 20 games, 21 points. relegation form. desperate and turgid football, and with a team he'd entirely brought in or blooded (except chambers) mick, hurst and lambert all responsible (one person was responsibe for all 3 of course!)

Utterly desperate. You're cherry picking a random number of games to try and make a point, but even then the form you highlight extrapolated over the whole of the 2017/18 season would have seen us finish 19th, comfortably clear of relegation. You're making yourself look ridiculous here. Mick is not responsible for where we are now, he left a capable Championship squad with some good youngsters coming through. Hurst and then Lambert led us to where we now are.
