Same as the old boss.

It's the same as when Obama got into power.

I had high hopes for him but he expanded the goings on in Guantanamo Bay and secured a world record in air force and drone strike killings in no time.

Now I know that it isn't completely one sided with Israel but the seemingly 100% backing from the west is continually mind blowing.

'We fully support Israel's legitimate right to defend itself,' says Blinken.

So do I, as do most people.

What we don't support is the indiscriminate bombing of areas where the Israeli forces believe Hamas terrorists may be located. It's an attitude of "We'll get a few innocents. but at least we'll get the terrorists too". Normal people are expendable.

Hamas also fire indiscriminately at Israeli families it seems, but that's because they are terrorists and don't care.

Either the Israel government are the same or they are not. The poor argument I've seen and heard of "They are both the same" winds me up, as though some 7 year old child killed by a Government bomb was somehow asking for it.

To be honest, I really cannot put my finger on why... but I fully support US support for Israel.
I don't think I've ever really known or met a Jewish person, certainly not growing up in Ipswich. I did spend 5 years of my life out in Saudi Arabia late 70s early 80s. Perhaps, has something to do with my visit to the 'death camp' in Poland when I worked there.

It's because if they don't back them, they get accused of anti-semitism:

Pollard also doing the fight against genuine anti-semitism no favours with stuff like this:

Agreed - Obama disappointed on various issues.

Questioning or criticising individuals' actions or making the argument that a Palestinian's human rights are the same as an Israeli's seems to be easily dismissed as anti-semitism in the West.

Hogwash.

To go out of your way to meet and kiss Hamas leaders may (have) been used as criticism for anti semitism but to refuse to support the bombing of Palestinians is (has) not.

No idea but don't let Glasgow see this....

“I’m sorry, we’re #Jews, and if we’re Jews, we will always have dual loyalty,” he said.

Well I fully accept the idea and building of a Jewish state but maybe it should have been built where no-one already lived.

I'm fairly sure we're all saying the same thing to be honest.

Clapham's post didn't venture into the bombing of Palestinians so think there may be some cross purposes there. He has a point when he says Pollard is being deliberately divisive though.

I always felt he was the weakest cook of the two bikers myself anyways, just to change the subject a bit:

More people have died since this thread began.

Including an Israeli child, not that a child's origins should matter when counting cost of course. He/she was just a child.

Netanyahu has spoken apparently:

"Mr Netanyahu said the attacks in recent days amounted to "anarchy".

"Nothing can justify an Arab mob assaulting Jews, and nothing can justify a Jewish mob assaulting Arabs," he said in a video statement, as reported by the Times of Israel."

Agree Mr Netanyahu. Shame you and others weren't speaking these words years ago.

Nothing justifies the killing of innocents no matter who they are. So, as the main power in the region, what you going to do about it?
