I wonder if there is an element of getting them to up their game or whether it is genuinely that none of the current bunch can expect to be near the first team if they are still here because we are confident that we will be getting far better players in.

Thats precisely it though. Over the last 5 or 6 years our identity has been anything but Ipswich.
We went from qualifying for the UEFA through fair play, playing free flowing attacking football and everyones second team to being one of the dullest, most pragmatic teams around to then becoming one of the most ill disciplined teams in league One.
We need a complete reset, and then maybe, just maybe, we get to be Ipswich again. |  |
