Points deductions can be cumulative though, I think that's why Luton got 30 points deducted at one stage (it might have been reduced on appeal). The EFL are never going to actively relegate them by deducting points from this season now. Hopefully we'll just pass them going the other way in Summer 2022.

And he was a director or something at Sheff W. Assume Derby will get a double points deduction if they go into admin.... One for the questionable accountancy practice which could be applied this year and send them down then one for admin which I assume would apply next season? Have to say Mel Morris has taken a beating for trying to take the club he loved forward. It's cost him a fortune and I really do feel for the chap. That said having watched money get thrown at squad year after year the I have little sympathy for the club itself though having been through it ourselves one takes no pleasure in seeing clubs slides towards administration (Well maybe Norwich)

...and in that pic he looks both uneasy and aroused, which tends to suggest a bullshooter in my book, out of his natural environment. The other fella looks like the splendid and largely underrated Graeme Garden.

Indeed, feel for Morris, he was only trying to to what Jack Walker did at Blackburn and its failed spectacularly. Although, over the years people like Phillp Cocu were disastrous choices and Rooney is only Manager as they couldn't afford to get rid of him. Either way, there will be a fire sale at Derby this summer, with administration looming and a points deduction next season, things look very bleak for them.

They and he were always very bullish about their accounting practices and the way they wrote down players based on future values. It was openly discussed and celebrated up here as a measure to how clever they are. Let's not forget Mel has never run a business of that size, he made some money but really took off just by the candy crush investment. He sacked Sam rush because he knew better, he also gave released players extended deals in the summer they were being released to get around accounting practices. It didn't take a lot to work out 10 million pound players, dubious stadium sales and very high interest loans weren't going to go well

Fair enough, obviously you are far more in the know than I am, but from what you say, sounds like their accounting practices leave a lot to be desired...

Did you see his 'house'? He replied to a tweet from a journo who said EFL had no proof of funds from him and he doesn't have the money with a video of some palatial beach front mansion which was his house in Marbella. Someone then noticed it was a TikTok video of a house on the West Coast of US and he'd just copied it. He then deleted his Twitter account when called out on it

Easy for the league to bolt on an extra 2 or 3 points to an existing punishment than do it on their own where it might be bigger

Aren't they receiving a points deduction in any case, due to the current "accountancy issues"? Just whether that's this season or next. Totally Football Show has a Wycombe fan on there (Duncan Alexander, I think) who was saying that the "accountancy issues" happened at the same time as Sheffield Wednesday's, just that it had taken longer for the process/appeal, etc. As we know, Wednesday's punishment was meted out this season...

I swear I read somewhere that the EFL wanted any punishment to be for this season for that reason.

For all his flaws I think Marcus did genuinely care for the club in his own aloof way, he just wasn't built to run a football club. Awful as his reign was, I'm at least glad he appeared to do his due diligence when figuring out who to sell to. I imagine he would have had offers from some very dodgy customers over the years.

If it's not, I'm sure Wednesday would like their six points back and taken off *next* season instead.

Hence me saying they could get a double points deduction though then one for the accountancy is still TBC in terms of what And when it will be applied. All we know is that the EFL won their appeal

Difficult to feel too much sympathy for Morris, when he was sanctioning the likes of £24k a week for Keogh.

I think the difference was Derby worked with the EFL with regards to their stadium sale, whereas Wednesday didn't - and SW sold it to a company that didn't even exist at the date of the sale. Derby's issue with stadium accounting is a red herring and one that is gone - it is their differing take on amortisation rules that is causing issues
