Derby takeover latest on 10:07 - May 14 by DanTheMan | I swear I read somewhere that the EFL wanted any punishment to be for this season for that reason. |
They can't appeal the decision but they can appeal the punishment so surely no chance of it being sorted for this season

In simple terms, they added a residual value to players at the end of their contract, despite the fact they walk away for nothing. This method is not used by any other club and wiped £30 million of debt from the accounts over the last three years, enabling then to comply with FFP. If I have understood things correctly that is.

That's true, it would all need to be wrapped up very quickly for any punishment this season. Although by the sounds of everything else, a punishment next season isn't going to be brilliant for them either.

Yes basically could buy someone for 10 million and instead of writing that down over the contract length they were saying the player would be worth more later in the contract. They were quite open about it and the spending wasn't hitting their numbers. It all had to backfire with promotion though. Not sure what happened at the end of contracts but they ended up renewing contracts one year for players being released, I think blackman was one of them Article here not got time to read it so might not back up what I've said https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-ne [Post edited 14 May 2021 11:48]
