The 'official' retro stuff from JD Sports is better than the current stuff anyway.

That JD Sports stuff is not official. They did the Umbro stuff a while back which was really cool. Got the Gazza 90 shirt. I don't understand why town can't get the old Adidas glory days stuff in stock now that Adidas is our kit supplier. Instead of the non branded guff they sell in the club shop nowadays. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

While not having a pop at you for saving the dough, it's the fakers the FA use as an excuse to jump the prices up!

I remember back in 2000s, up until 2012 or so you could always get an England kit for £25-35 from Sports Direct even when brand new.......now they are £65......were people buying fakes when prices at a more reasonable rate - feels much more rife now

Yeah. I remember kitting out glasses junior for the 2010 World Cup from Sports Direct. White Home kit, red away kit and the two goalie kits (yellow and green if memory serves). All pretty cheap. Think it changed when they went from Umbro to Nike.

I think it was a bit before then, I personally think the Nike kits have been pretty poor - the current home one is a shocker for me EDIT - I think the Nike kits generally are the worst of the big kit providers by some distance [Post edited 18 May 2021 16:27]

New England kit £140 on 22:38 - May 18 with 2555 views | SuperCoops | Can remember when England were Umbro and the shirts were affordable. Sports shops like JJB etc stocked up big on them and pushed them out because it was good to see people in them supporting their country, especially during tournaments. Nike have come in with some affordable designs and I suspect not many people buy them at that price, certainly not a noticeable number will be say in a pub during Euro 2020/1 wearing them in the name of they're country. £20 or £30 might entice people to get them, but not at those prices! Who wants an "athletic fit" player version when the vast majority of people buying them aren't "athletes" build? Poor marketing. [Post edited 19 May 2021 16:23]

well Id agree, but Nike have been doing this years, not just with England but any of the teams kit they make, they make this fans version, then a this is what the players wear version that costs 20quid extra. now they arent daft enough to price this stuff so it doesnt sell or make a profit, Nike dont have warehouses filled with boxes of England kit they cant sell. So someone must be buying it, and buying it in enough numbers Nike are happy enough with the sales figures they are getting. I know it was a near 12 year deal, but Nike paid over 400million pounds for this England deal, now I know Chelsea went along in the same period signing a 15 year deal for double that amount, so the FA really didnt bargain that well, but its still alot of shirts that Nike have got to shift to get their money back from it, and you dont do that by pricing out your consumers. it will be interesting to see if theres like a Euros 96 effect again if England start doing well this tournament
