Always good to be ambitious, but... given we apparently told our entire first team squad to do one, I'd hope that our Summer planning is mainly based around getting people we can be pretty confident in getting.
Hopefully the established Championship players like Bradley are stretch targets and we've got some more solid ideas about 20 or so footballers who are better than what we had and likely to sign up. |
It's a sort of narrow window of opportunity when we are restricted to a player budget of 60% of turnover, isn't it?
As far as shopping within the EFl goes, I guess it means signing mid-table Championship players that maybe feel their pathway may be blocked at their current club or L1 players of good standing who like our project (although Nolan was highly regarded in a successful Shrewsbury side). Rated L2 stars are riskier (Donacien, Jackson). Ashton may bring some personal clout, but I wonder if we have made a start in getting a foreign scouting project up and running. | |

Foreign scouting is a waste of time in reality at this moment - the new GBE rules will make recruitment of foreigners into League 1 almost non existent as anyone not good enough for the PL, or at the very least the Chanpionship, is very unlikely to get enough ‘points’ to qualify for a work permit |  |
