Anyone know of any good ones around here? I've been playing for years but I've got mates who I've taken to the driving range a few times and have hinted they'd like to play a course once we're all home from uni for the summer. I mainly play at Ufford or Cretingham but they're a bit tricky for my very inexperienced friends. The best I can come up with are the Aldeburgh 9 hole or St Audry's so any other suggestions are appreciated.

I'm long time away from the area, but when I started to play a little bit we always went to Seckford. It's a bit up and down, but seemed like quite a short course and easily manageable.

This is quite the forgiving 9 hole course. Some really nice short holes and a couple of decent length par 5's with splendid views of The Orwell to boot.

EDIT: A pair of decent length Par 4's.

I was going to suggest Cretingham, always a nice relaxed place to play, but if that's a bit advanced for them then probably Bramford, Stonham Barns or the Bury 9 hole are your best bets

The 9 hole in the Abbey Gardens?

I recommend Felixstowe 9 hole. Lovely course and a good one for newbies as a very wide course and some short and long holes

Felixstowe, Purdis and Woodbridge 9-hole courses are all cheap and challenging tests that are never too busy (so you won't have to worry too much about members getting annoyed at you!).

Stowmarket golf centre could be an option.

Driving range, 9 holes and a really good coaching set up.

Cretingham has lost its charm from a few years back - more of an expensive coffee shop/restaurant, the golf courses seems to be an inconvenience to them nowadays.

Fynn Valley 9-hole is a good one, quite open and flat..

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

Flynn Valley is supposed to be a nice short iron course.

Personally I think the Riverside course at Aldeburgh takes a lot of beating.

I would say the 9 hole at purdis is great for beginners and always in perfect condition then perhaps the now 9 hole course at Cretingham.

My main concern with Cretingham is that the difficulty varies quite a bit depending on how wet it is.

I was going to suggest Stonham Barns. They've got a pitch & putt that is very basic, but they've also got a 9 hole that's very laid back, in no way up it's own ar5e and not somewhere you'll look like nobs hacking around.

Nice cafe too in the Barns.
