The revival of an old chant. 16:27 - May 27 with 2486 viewsTractorFrog

I feel like it's time for this old chant to make a dramatic comeback:

(in the tune of 'Qué sera, sera')

When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother: what will I be?
Will I be Ipswich? Will I be Norwich?
Here's what she said to me:
Wash your mouth out, son,
And go get your father's gun,
And shoot some Norwich scum.
We hate Naarridge!

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

The only time I ever heard that was at Elland Road when Leeds sang about Chelsea.

I'm glad you clarified the tune. I'm not sure I'd have realized otherwise...

Do you recall late 80s or early 90s home game in the evening v Watford and us singing “rather shag a sheep than a Watford prostitute”

I do!

I also remember the graffiti on the wall on the walk to Vicarage Road that said 'We hate Luton and Ipswich'.

Haha! Wonder why they hated us.

Nice short trip. Allotment end. Shallow terrace steps. Whitton (89). Scenes.

What about 'Ipswich lives in racial harmony' if Tom Hunt ever deigns to not only actually visit his constituency town but its football club?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

My two favourites:

The Bontcho chant to the tune of 2Unlimited’s “No Limits”.

The Mauricio chant to the Red Flag

(And a passing mention for the very silly “Oh Shaky Milton.”
